THE FORD GALLERY
From 1964 through the present, the Ford Mustang has established a legacy as one of America's greatest cars.  Originally the brainchild of the Ford Design Studio as an answer to the Chevy Corvair, Lee Iacocca knew it would sell and pushed it through the bureaucracy and into production.  418,000 Mustangs were sold in its first year on the Market.  Pretty good instincts?

This 1965 Mustang GT is from
Matchbox (TM).
Trivia Question:  What year is this Mustang? People who throw away die-cast car packages and play with their toy cars just don't know.  But, this one is a collectible line Hot Wheels packaged as a Motor Trend editors choice.

The 1999 Ford Mustang --

Although smaller than the originals, the lines of this car continue to reflect its heritage.  With either a V-6 or a 4.9 liter V-8, they exude power!  In 1964, it cost $2,368 for a basic model...

In the early 60's Ford decided that it needed to dominate the European GT road racing scene.  The answer was the Ford GT40.  In the late 60s, it established itself as one of the legendary race cars at Le Mans with victories.  This example is from  Hotwheels (TM)!

The GT40 Enthusiasts Club
The GT90 is the ultimate expression of the Edge Design philosophy so eloquently expressed in the current Mercury Cougar.   As a show car it continues to evolve and is even envisioned as a limited production supercar.  However, this Hotwheels version doesn't do the car justice.  The few GT90 pictures featured in The World Encyclopedia of Cars by Martin Buckley and Christopher Rees really show the GT90 as a car for the future. It's an edgy, cyberized,  and exotic new world...

A great book on Ford history is Ford:  The Men and The Machine by Robert Lacey.  Much research for this page also came from The World Encyclopedia of Cars by Martin Buckley and Christopher Rees You can find them all at Barnes&Noble.com.
