What to do with a T-shirt #7

What to do with a T-shirt #7

So, it's getting slightly colder and you have all these extra tshirts in different colors that don't fit right and look funny. Make a toasty warm scarf for the winter!

Materials:
- at least 2 (may need more) t-shirts in the same or different colors
- a sewing machine, needle & thread, fusible web, or hot glue
- scissors

1. Cut 8-inch wide strips as long as possible from each t-shirt.
2. Make sure the edges are flat and line up, so that they are all the same width, even if they are different lengths.
3. Make sure you have enough strips for the entire length of the scarf you want to make TIMES TWO (x2)
4. Line up half the strips and alternating colors, sew them together (or glue or fuse) so that the rough edges all face the same way (if you have patterns or designs you don't want to see on a t-shirt, put them so that they face up towards the rough edges). Do the same for the other half of the strips.
5. With the rough edges facing outward, sew along the entire length on both sides and ONE edge, so that you have a long tube or "sock" with all the rough edges facing out.
6. Trim the excess edges and turn the long tube inside out. Hand-sew, fuse, or glue the top so that the edges are inside.
7. Alternatively, make only a long tube by sewing just the edges and not the end. Then turn inside out and fray the edges to make a fringe.
8. Wear your t-scarf with style!

Variations: try a few different colors or all the same color. You can make vertical stripes by cutting thinner strips all the same color at a time and sewing them side-by-side.
