What to do with a t-shirt #3 (and #4!)
Totally clueless? What are all those tees doing in your closet when you never
wear them? Don't just throw them out (unless you really never want to see them again), but instead, give them another chance. You'll be surprised at just how cool that old "I donated blood in 1953" t-shirt can be. In this, our third installment, you'll find not one but TWO things you can do with that thing.
Start with an old tee shirt. If it has a front or back you don't like, fix it (see t-shirt #2). Then get out the scissors!
You want to make slits in the body, below the bust (unless you really want that to show). Make a long vertical slit, then cut the
sides in about a half-inch to an inch, so you have a zipper-like shape. Take the pieces that stick out and twist them around the center. If they're an inch-long on each side, you can tie them, too, so you have a row of bows. Do that on either side, along the front or side of the t-shirt.
Now cut off the neck, arms, and hem to a height you like and cut slits or waves so you have a fringe that curls. The side of your scissors will help you control which way the curls curl.
Now you have a sexy, skin-baring top you can wear as a cover-up or just for fun!
And another idea!
Got all those t-shirt pieces you've been cutting out? Don't throw them away! Get a needle and thread and sew a couple of pieces together with the patterns facing out, leaving one side fringed or just curling in. Turn the pocket inside-out, add a ribbon, sequins, lace, whatever and you have a cute little day-bag or a pouch to give gifts away in. There's no gift as sweet as a homemade one, after all...
