Find the right thing to wear

Last month we showed you great ways to look great. We're continuing the tradition in this issue - you can copy a model again, learn to look gorgeous super-fast, and save hours by knowing just what to wear in a snap. No it doesn't take millions, but it does take a little know-how.

People like us (that probably means you) don't really want to buy really expensive clothes if they can afford it. But making the move to quality instead of quantity can be worth it for a lot of people. You'll save money in the long run anyway, and you STILL won't be a pauper because you'll know how to shop smart right here!

So, look around here for the best info on how to shop, where to shop, how to mix and match, and look model-perfect. With a little effort and very little money (not $100 but $20 or less!), you can look great on YOUR budget.

Look gorgeous in ten minutes flat

Most of us spend hours in the morning: take a shower, cleanse your face with 30 different products, use conditioner, gels, hairspray, blowdryers, 5 different brushes, and various hair styling appliances. It takes forever to do hair. And then, there's the clothes. And the makeup. It's gotta stop. Most guys love women with a natural look - just ask them. And if a guy only likes how you look when you're caked over with makeup and you face doesn't show through - who needs that?

Instead, you just need two things for your face: an all-purpose cleanser and a light oil-free moisturizer with SPF. Wash your face with warm water, splash on cool water to wake yourself up, then pat dry and use the moisturizer. Simple.

Sick of doing your hair? Go to the stylist and get a simple wash-and-go haircut that suits you face. Then just wash with a simple shampoo and conditioner (or a two-in-one, even better), and let your hair towel or air dry. If you need to pull it back damp, use a simple elastic band at the nape of your neck or a hairclip at the back of your head, leaving most of the hair loose to dry naturally.

Oh, yeah, the makeup. Simple solution: don't. Use the moisturizer to keep your face hydrated, and the SPF keeps it young. Use some lip balm or gloss, and at most one other makeup item (blush, eyeliner, mascara, OR shadow). That's it. Get some exercise to get color in your face.

For the clothes you need another solution. Pick simple outfits that suit the occasion and weather. Take a look at "Find the right thing to wear" and you'll be all set to go, looking gorgeous, in no time.

Autumn colors will have people falling at your feet

Autumn is such a colorful season - the bright golds, reds, yellows and oranges - warm colors left on the trees by the warmth of the summer sunshine. Reflect the color with your wardrobe this fall. Here's a mix n' match guide:

Mix different oranges with neutrals on the bottom - grays or browns.

A sober yellow will go nicely with a little leftover deep green from summer's last lushness.

The deep violets of darkened leaves mix with the strong bright reds that highlight fall trees - and you'll stand out in a crowd.

A bright green against the deep almost black navy trodden leaves - reminds you of both summer and winter.

The chocolate brown of the soil and the last blushing bloom of summer will complement any feminine wardrobe.

Try your own warm fall colors and beat off the growing chill with a bright autumn wardrobe.

Look like a model: Copy a look

Each month we feature a model for you to copy. Guess who it is this month?

tyra

You can get Tyra's look with just a few tools.

You'll need a loose white cotton shirt with long sleeves - just leave the top button or two undone and the collar only slightly folded, so it curves out. Tie at the waist and pair it with long slim black, gray, or khaki pants. Pair with heeled sandals or even oxfords. This is a casual look you can wear anywhere.

For the hair, get a 3/4 inch curling iron and take hair in small sections, curling each from roots to ends. Finish with a shine-enhancing spray. Line your eyes with dark liner and brush on some rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks.

For a variation, try wearing a skirt on the bottom - vary the length. This will make the pretty curls even more feminine. Add a touch of color with a decorative scarf tied around your neck.

Top secret beauty advice

This is the heavy stuff that no one wants you to know! These are the tricks the models pull off on the runways to look smashing in minutes!

For camouflage: Cinema Secrets foundation is used by entertainment specialists - it gives a smooth finish and corrects flaws!

Instant hair tricks: Get a couple of big U-pins or twist clips to instantly put your hair up into a French twist or a bun. It makes you look glamorous in a jiffy.

Get static out of your brush! Just wash with a drop of shampoo and warm water.

Velcro rollers! They are cool and comfortable and stay put without messy clips. Put em in after blowdrying and take them out a few minutes before you leave - brush out for great waves.

Use a self-tanner on hands, feet and legs - don't forget the tops of hands - for an overall glow.

A little gloss on lips can perk up your whole face.

Put on all makeup with fingers - it's the best to blend with.

Whiten your teeth - use a whitening toothpaste - and your smile will be brighter!

Models use hemorroid cream to combat eye puffiness!

Play classical music at meals to reduce appetite.

Got dandruff? Add aspirin to your shampoo.

If your roots are showing, use mascara (of the right color of course) to touch up your hair color.

Feet all sweaty? Spray antiperspirant on them weekly to keep away blisters and friction that causes pain.

Get the red out of a blemish - use Visine

Soften elbows and knees with a lemon

Keep nails, feet, and hair especially well-kept and natural

Find the right thing to wear

I used to spend hours in my room staring at the closet, rummaging through drawers, asking everyone but the cat what I should wear. And when I got a suggestion, I answered, "No, I can't wear that! It makes me look fat. Choose anything else..."

Then I got to thinking, if it makes me look fat, why keep it? Why keep anything that you won't wear for whatever reason except maybe once a year? So it's time to scale down. Here's how:

Look at every piece of clothing. Sort out 5 tops and 5 bottoms you absolutely love and can't do without. Match shoes and a bag to them - these should fit and look great and be comfortable, too.

Now, everything else has one of three fates: 1) throw it or give it away 2) put it in a box 3) keep it.
Anything you don't love should be thrown out. If you're sure of something, keep it. Stop being overly sentimental - but if you're going to save something for sentimental reasons, at least display it somewhere. Things you're not sure about should go in your "doubtfuls" box. If you find yourself going through the box looking for something within a month, take it out and keep it. Otherwise, it's to be given away.

Now look at what's left. Put away all your summer clothes - it's fall and you don't need them. Put away half of what's left too. Then exchange what's outside for fall clothes inside after a month. You'll have a whole new wardrobe to work with.

Now you have a great set of clothes that you love. Make sure everything matches. If it has nothing to match, go get something or give it away. Put together outfits as you can, but don't be afraid of experimenting.

Pick out clothes the night before. Check the weather and decide what to wear. Set out a whole outfit from top and bottom to shoes and jewelry. Then pick one alternate piece of clothing to wear with it in case the weather is slightly different. For example, if you set out a skirt and top, leave out a coordinating pair of pants too.

In the morning, go with the skirt by default, but if you really really don't want to wear a skirt (too lazy to shave?), go with the pants.

And now with a closet full of clothes you love, you just can't go wrong!
