The period of the tribulations prior to the end-times in Christian eschatology is marked by exactly the kind of internecine warfare that exists in America: �And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and hate one another.� [Matthew 24:9] Mass "offendedness.� Mass betrayal. Sound familiar?

Under the extremist atmosphere of the feminist jackboot, it�s crucial to emphasize that the modern outbreak of Genderwar is a predictable, organic � albeit horrific � element in what alchemy and depth psychology term the �Great Work� of human evolution. In these decades when the collective masculine is denigrated and decimated, it's critical for men to understand the roots, and future fruits, of their suffering. Danger indeed surrounds us -- but all is not lost, and help is on the way.

The Great Work of the species follows a trajectory of tens of thousands of years, at minimum, and is intensely documented in the cultural record, especially in mythology, literature, and iconography.

On the collective level of the species, the Great Work is also known as the �Philosopher�s Stone� or the �Holy Grail.� Rudolph Steiner referred to it as �Michael Consciousness.� In humanity�s first work of literature, the Epic of Gilgamesh, the object of the hero�s quest is this same hidden �magical plant� that bestows immortality. In my youth, Frodo the Hobbit made the sacred journey, recovered Wagner�s ouroboric Ring, and returned it to its rightful birthplace in the fire in Earth�s core, where dwells the sol niger -- the entity Judeo-Christianity scapegoats as the "Devil." Recently, Harry Potter belatedly joined the quest.

Last night little Harry whispered to me: America is the laboratory of Eden. For this it was created, and this it will attain, or perish. Not bad for a newbie.

Every major civilization, and even every obscure indigenous tribe, has added its ingredient to the bubbling cauldron of the Great Work. America is currently undergoing the coagulatio, the mixture of disparate elements, in its alchemical melting pot.

But America�s goal is the establishment of heaven on earth under the secular and spiritual umbrella of coniunctio � the marriage of the opposites. The Great Work of the nation is threefold: 1) to make conscious, and to slay forever, the human addiction to the Scapegoat, at both group and individual levels; 2) to defeat death; and 3) to reintegrate the opposites and raise all matter, all Creation, to consciousness and blessedness, in the sacred marriage of conuinctio.

Many ancient texts, including the Old Testament, trace the origin and development of dualistic constructs in the species and individual. All ascent/descent phenomena have this secret purpose -- to bring the individual and species to wholeness through experience and integration of the extremes. History is the story of the growth of the ability to perceive, and manipulate, the opposites using conscious techniques developed by the heroes of masculinity. Eschatology, or apocalypse (which means �revelation�) is the return to the primal, maternal unconsciousness of the species, on a paradoxically conscious, paternal level -- a heiros gamos, a marriage of antagonists bringing fullness to the cosmos, to Earth, and to human beings.

The arrow represents maleness, the cross femaleness, and each has its private sphere of influence symbolized by the circle from which each gender sign springs. But eventually male and female will share a single circle, which designates their totality, their completeness -- without loss of either arrow or cross, of spirit or matter. Jung wrote at length of the mandala, or circular symbol � including the U.F.O. � as a forecast of the approaching wholeness of the race and planet.

But the Great Work is not a fluffy philosophical abstraction restricted to musty, obscure alchemical tomes. It is a battlefield of very, very real blood, its nexus located in the arrhythmic heart of America.

America is the tapestry upon which the conuinctio is woven, the sacred precinct where night and day converge, where the rightful King and Queen stand naked before the altar of elevated Earth, one being in two, separate yet joined.

Coniunctio is the Latin term for this union of opposites -- darkness and light, earth and heaven, body and spirit, hatred and love, good and evil, woman and man. Under conuinctio, opposing principles remain independent of one another -- that is, retain their integrity of form and function -- while simultaneously uniting to create an indivisible unit. Paradox is the fundament of the universe. We don�t have to like it. We just have to live with it.

Through male and female, Nature re-members itself, with culture the mechanism of extending memory to the infinite and eternal. As originally the One became Two, under conuinctio the Two return to One � without loss of the creative benefits of dualistic �Two-ness.� This is the meaning of the ouroboric Dragon, old tail-biter, the �foe� at the bottom of the sea, or at the center of the Earth, over whom the archangel must gain victory -- by conscious integration, not destruction. Like the libido, the Dragon cannot -- indeed must not -- be obliterated.

In the coniunctio now being attempted by the collectivity we call America, we are coercing masculinity into re-absorption by the feminine � we are forcing males to become females, and to submit to rule by the feminine in recapitulation of matriarchy, the foundational condition of human social organization. The coniunctio cannot be accomplished this way, for the use of force violates the one universal law: thou shalt not coerce.
