In nearly every case, the price the hero pays for this heresy is his life � though often he loses his sanity, and various body parts, before the coup de gras is administered. Perhaps the greatest hero of the West is Jesus Christ, one in a long line of purely solar, masculine entities, Sons of the Sun, who constantly recommend brotherhood as the solution to humanity�s ills. When men contend with men, the bloody matriarchate is confirmed in rule. When men contend with women, consciousness occurs, the feminine agenda is pierced, and the species and planet evolve. When masculine penetrates feminine, creation occurs. When men and women find the balance between antagonism and attraction, heaven descends and earth ascends, and all weep for joy.

The Secret Agent Man, the wondrous counselor Wotan, ".. is the enemy of the old ruling system, of the old cultural values and the existing court of conscience... [he fulfills] the command of the transpersonal father or father archetype who wants the world to change, [colliding] with the personal father who speaks for the old law." [Neumann, Erich, The Origins and History of Consciousness, p. 174]

So we may be certain we distinguish our non-vengeful hero from the archetype Jung describes in his classic essay "Wotan," let's trace his genealogy a bit.

He is known by countless names: Gilgamesh and Enkidu in Sumer, Abraham and Moses in Judaism, Christ and Baptist John in Christianity, Marduk in Babylon, Horus and Osiris in ancient Egypt, Herakles, Perseus and Oedipus in Hellenism, and so on down the ages. Always the hero is either overtly or covertly associated with the collective Scapegoat, and always his task is the same: to advance and evolve authentic masculinity, expose and overturn the defects of the conventional ruling order, under control of the Toxic King and Empowered Witch, and to push the race and the planet toward the Great Work of conuinctio.

Despite modern propaganda, masculinity has always been defined by the feminine and by inferior male elements. Only the heroic few have opposed the Empowered Witch and Toxic King. Now, for the first time in pre-history and history, men are preparing to define masculinity themselves, as a condition apart from the power agendas of the feminine and male pseudo-elites comprising the State. The modern men�s movement will spawn authentic heroes by the thousands.

Still, Adam is yet unborn upon the planet. First Man has not yet walked earth.

But Wotan�s on the way. Here comes the Sun.

Modern female liberation was a comparative cakewalk, because it translates to more �civilization,� that is, endlessly increasing privileges and protections for females and �their� children. Feminism, though necessary, deepens the endless conflicts of the dyas. But male liberation will not be embraced and funded by the government and ruling culture. Male liberation means the end of �civilization� as we know it. It means an end to unconscious reliance on the Scapegoat, and on the dualistic laws of talion. Given what American culture has become in the past three decades, that�s not only welcome, but absolutely requisite.

The �wars of the end� which are the focus of Christian eschatology are not only, or even principally, the kind of externalized military operations with which we�re familiar. These are exteriorizations of inner conflict. Instead, they are domestic wars, what we have come to call culture wars -- wars of internal fracturing. They are spiritual wars, recapitulations of the original War in Heaven, when the archangelic twins, Michael and Satanael, fought and parted ways. This is literary shorthand for the birth of dualistic consciousness, especially concerning the sundering of heaven from earth, and good from evil.
