The first step is to cut back on the foods that cause blood sugars to creek up and spike.. I recommend the foods that are high in protein and that contain essential fatty acids. Another must is plenty of the brightly colored fresh fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants. There are many wonderful and delious foods to choose from; here are some  of my favotites.

Salmon (fresh or canned)
Extra virgin olive oil
8-10 glasses of pure bottled water
Dark green leafy lettuce (dressed with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon)
Fresh lemons
Fresh berries: blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries
Non-instant old fashioned oatmeal
Turkey or chicken breast
Fish and shellfish
Tomatoes
Citrus fruits
Cauliflower
Eggplant
Green beans
Pears
Cabbage
Broccoli
Asparagus
Fresh and dried beans
Avocado
Summer squash
Green and red peppers
Cherries
Low-fat cottage cheese
Yogurt
