Express trains (ICE, IC, EC, IR)
These offers are for round trips on specific dates and train numbers, are limited in quantity, and are only refundable up to the day before travel for a �15 surcharge. The tickets are available at ticket counters and online. With online purchase, you can self-print your own tickets. Reservations are available for �3 (�1,50 each way). With the Sparpreis, there is a 50% discount for the 2nd through 5th "Mitfahrer" (Travel companions).
Sparpreis 25 - Twenty-five percent discount. Three day advance purchase required.
Sparpreis 50 - Same as above but you get a 50% discount with a weekend stay. This stay can be:
* Return on a Sunday following the start of the trip, or
* Leave on a Sunday, return on a Saturday, or
* Round trip on a Saturday or a Sunday.
You can find these fares by going to the Bahn query page and requesting connections that meet the above requirements. The fares will be shown as "savings fares".
Sparpreis fares have been continuously available for many years, and will probably continue to be available.
Europa Spezial
Special fare for travel from selected Germany cities to selected cities in surrounding countries. There is no time limit shown on these promotional tickets, but they have not been around so long, so no idea of how long they will continue to be sold.

Limited quantity, 2nd class, train specific, non-refundable, three day advance purchase required. Tickets, which are only available online, can be self-printed. One way fares as low as �19 to Amsterdam from K�ln, �39 from Frankfurt . Round trip available but trip (one way or RT) must start in Germany.
Happy weekend ticket � this ticket costs �33 and is valid for all regional trains (IRE, RE, RB, and S-bahn) in Germany, all day long, Saturday or Sunday, from midnight until 3 AM the following morning. A particularly good deal if you are traveling over one or more Land borders. Available from DB ticket automats, or, for �2 more, from ticket counters and DB Reiseb�ro. Usually valid for travel conveyances (U-bahn, trams, buses) within a Verkehrsverbund or other transit authority, but depends on that authority.
