| There are a lot of great casinos to visit on the Strip. You'll certainly want to see some of the newer ones like New York, New York; Bellagio; The Venetian and Mandalay Bay. But there is one place that is an absolute must-see for anyone in Vegas: Caesar's Palace. It's a great casino, a wonderful place to gamble. Cleopatra's Barge is a great lounge for relaxation. If you can afford it, this is the best place to stay, the rooms are great and the location is right in the center of the Strip. If you can't afford to stay here, at least plan on spending some time at Caesars. Caesars hosts many top level sporting events and has some great shows. And then there is the Forum -- what ever money you don't lose in the casino you can spend here. A great collection of stores in a setting that looks and feels like outdoors, complete with animated statues of Roman Gods. Don't miss it! | |||||||||||||
| In recent years Las Vegas has developed many family-oriented resorts. It started with Circus Circus and was followed by Excalabur with its castle and jousting knights, Mirage with an erupting volcano and white tigers, Treasure Island with a pirate theme, New York, New York with a replica of the Big Apple skyline, and the glass Egyptian pyramid that houses Luxor. At left is the MGM Grand, which has a Hollywood theme, including animated characters from the Wizard of Oz. These are all interesting to some extent, but not really a good place to stay. They are too crowded with gawkers and are very noisy. We were especially disturbed by the number of children wandering around in the casinos, especially at the MGM. | |||||||||||||
