Bob and Peg got a head start on this trip. They came out three days ahead of Dave and Barb to attend a conference in La Jolla. This is a very upscale suburb on the north coast of San Diego. Its a great place for exclusive shopping and fine restaurants.
La Jolla also has some beautiful and dramatic scenery with high cliffs that come right to the sea. You can go hang gliding or para sailing from a public glider port. Just to the north is Torrey Pines -- a great place for hiking -- more on that later.
La Jolla has some very nice beaches at the base of its cliffs. This particular beach -- right in the center of town -- is more populated with seals than with people.
