March 2003 Edition Merry March, Florida Sisters! My apologies for being so late with the newsletter this month, I was out of town. So, I'll get right down to business with a couple of announcements: LOTH Florida Forum online community - like a message board only better! This is a new venture for Florida LOTH, but other regions have been having a ball on their forums for a long time! So far there are no hosts for topics, but I hope that changes once you see the possibilities available. You can reach the registration page for community by going here: http://pub77.ezboard.com/blothfloridaforum LOTH Florida Forum is an online community dedicated to giving Florida sisters a place to exchange information, trade recipes, hold online lessons and support groups, and more. Posting to the forum, just like with chat e-mail, counts as being active in LOTH. It's a 3-step process. You'll need to register (I recommend creating a global account.) and then apply for admission to the forum before you can see it or post - it's very exclusively just for us! Your e-mail or other information is kept strictly within the community, never used for spam or anything you wouldn't want it to be. Please either fill out your profile or use a member name I'll recognize so I'll know who is who. :-) I'll approve your membership as quickly as possible! If you have trouble registering, or have questions about the forum, feel free to e-mail me! ************************ A couple of other activities to remind you of: 1. Our regional CAUSES PAGE at: http://ruthnott.homestead.com/FlaLOTHCauses.html that's being kept up by Ruth from Chiefland. If you have a page at your site that supports some cause, please send me the information, and a banner or graphic if you have one, at [email protected]. I'll pass it along to Ruth. And I extend many, many thanks to Ruth (again!) for taking this on! 2. The REGIONAL WEBRING, which replaces the national one (and that one should be taken off your pages, please!). To join the ring, or see who's in it: http://pub10.bravenet.com/sitering/list.php?usernum=779594836 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A NEW SISTER! February 2003 Edition Hello Florida Sisters! February, the month of Love and Light - it's got Valentine's Day and the days are noticeably longer. Merry Imbolc today to those who celebrate it. We in Florida have the worst of the cold weather behind us, thank goodness, because I could sure tell my house wasn't built with heat during that cold spell last week! :-) Things will be warming up here in LOTH-land, too! I've found a place that I think will have our regional forum where we can talk about specific topics, everything and "nothing." I'm still tinkering with it, to make sure it does what I envision (or something like it), and I'll let you know where to head when it's ready. A few repeats of "business" from last month's newsletter: TWO NEW PAGES/ACTIVITIES: 1. Our new regional CAUSES PAGE at: http://ruthnott.homestead.com/FlaLOTHCauses.html that's being kept up by Ruth from Chiefland. If you have a page at your site that supports some cause, please send me the information, and a banner or graphic if you have one, at [email protected]. I'll pass it along to Ruth. And I extend many, many thanks to Ruth for taking this on! 2. The REGIONAL WEBRING, which replaces the national one (and that one should be taken off your pages, please!). To join the ring, or see who's in it: http://pub10.bravenet.com/sitering/list.php?usernum=779594836 GRAPHICS STILL NEEDED! PSP fanatics, Region 9 needs you! We need graphics for the Goodwill Amassador and Birthday committees to use, plus we especially need Web site membership plaques for 2003. See examples at: http://www.geocities.com/region_9/gifts/index.html I'll be taking the outdated ones down but wanted anyone who wants to make graphics to have something to go by. Any questions, and for submissions, you know the address. *grin* Also, mainly for the regional Goodwill Ambassador and Birthday committees members, but anyone can be either anytime she wants to! I have uploaded several graphics to our YahooGroups Region_09News files area: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Region_09News/files/ in a folder called GWA Graphics. It may ask you to log in with your Yahoo ID before letting you into the files area. Instructions on how to download and use the graphics are in a file inside that folder. PICTURE THIS - YOU! The sisters' photo area of the regional site has been updated. Go see what we look like! *grin* If you'd like your picture added, please see the information on submitting it (and see the photos) at: http://www.geocities.com/region_9/gallery/index.html Blessings and Hugs, Monica ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A NEW SISTER! We have one new member this month, please say hello to her! Marfa, from Hialeah, [email protected], www.momentsinparadise.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BIRTHDAY HAPPIES! Join me in wishing these sisters a wonderful new year! 2-1 (Happy birthday!!!) Shirlene, [email protected], http://1freespace.com/shirlene/ 2-26 Karen, [email protected], 2-27, Christine, [email protected] http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/angelikeme/home5.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FROM THE SISTERS: Ruth Nott, Chiefland [email protected] Hi Ladies! Just two things here. 1) If you are interested in losing weight, I would appreciate it if you could visit my daughter's Herbalife web site at http://www.becomethedream.com/ccc/ and tell her Ruth sent you. Her husband has been without a job for almost a year now and, although my daughter has a job, they need two incomes to survive. His unemployment payments will be ending soon and they really need to make a go of this home business. Thanks to you all for considering Herbalife and helping them out. 2) I'm in charge of publicity for our guild quilt show coming up in November here in Trenton, FL. If any of you with websites would be so kind as to place a link to our quilt show info page on your website, or pass the info along to your friends, I'd sure appreciate that too. The url is http://www.springhousequilters.homestead.com/HandmadeMemories.html and thank you! ********************************************************* Naomi, [email protected] From Region 26 Australia http://www.geocities.com/lothbusiness Subject: LOTH Business Directory Hello Ladies. Have you ever heard about or read LOTH's HeartSong Ezine? It's a monthly online magazine created by LOTH sisters just like you! There are many different types of columns so there is something for everyone. The staff really works hard and does a wonderful job. You can read it page by page online or download it to read later at your leisure. And if you really enjoy it you can even download back issues. Please go take a glance...you can read December's HeartSong at: http://www.ladies-of-the-heart.com/HeartSongEzine/index.html While you are there you will see a note about a new column coming to HeartSong next month called "Ask Dawn". I am Dawn Gardner and I will be the lady behind the pen :) This is going to be a new interactive column all about you! Each month you can write in asking questions about anything from A to Z. Then I will reply to some of them in the next month's issue. In order to make this column fun, interesting, and ongoing I need your support. I am asking you to join in and email with whatever is on your mind or in your heart. Thank you sisters...I would really appreciate your help with this! January 2003 Edition Happy New Year, Florida Ladies, and welcome to the first edition of the NEW Florida regional newsletter! Things have been moving and shaking in LOTHland, with the membership renewal drive and some upgraded activities and services. Some are still to come, some are announced below! I have processed all the renewals I've received to date, and I have entered the membership information on the regional Web site. PLEASE everyone take a look and make sure I have you in the correct city, the correct contact info and the correct birthday. Start here: http://www.geocities.com/region_9/index2.html and let me know if something is amiss. Once I get it verified I'll update the counties and photos pages. TWO NEW PAGES/ACTIVITIES you'll find there: 1. To join the ring, or see who's in it: http://pub10.bravenet.com/sitering/list.php?usernum=779594836 GRAPHICS NEEDED! PSP fanatics, Region 9 needs you! We need graphics for the Goodwill Amassador and Birthday committees to use, plus we need Web site membership plaques for 2003. See examples at: http://www.geocities.com/region_9/gifts/index.html I'll be taking the outdated ones down soon but wanted anyone who wants to make graphics to have something to go by. Any questions, and for submissions, you know the address. *grin* Things are fine with me, I'm on a 2-week vacation and just hanging around town doing things I've been wanting to do, catching up on errands AND sleep! I'd hoped to announce a new regional assistant in this newsletter, but the holidays have slowed things down. So, that round of happy feet will be held later! ;-) A New Year's quotation I came across and like so well I'm sharing it: Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true. - Lord Tennyson Hugs! Monica ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's where I would usually announce new sisters, but technically this month we are ALL new! So, while you're checking your information at the regional site, say hello to others and get reaquainted. If you see a city that used to have a sister you know and is now blank, it means she didn't renew yet. Get on her case *wink* and tell her if she has questions about the renewal process or "requirements" to please write me. I don't want to lose anyone interested in being a member of LOTH Florida because of some misunderstanding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ JANUARY BIRTHDAYS: 1-07 [email protected] - Melissa C. 1-24 [email protected] - Gabi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FROM THE SISTERS: From: Gabi, [email protected] I have received loving support from this group as I went thru my bout with breast cancer 5 yrs ago...and I came thru it all beautifully...Then, for the last couple months, my mother has been recovering from a broken artery during an accidently scope procedure in the hospital...she is now back home and doing beautifully...and I sincerely appreciate all your prayers.... Thinking that everyone was fit and healthy, my husband Bill and I took off for his sister's in Tampa for Thanksgiving weekend....but, that nite...he awoke with severe side and back pain..and I rushed him to ER....after a week in the hospital...running biospy's and scans...he was diagnosed with a rare cancer called 'bile duct'...an operation is not an option..just chemo once a week and tons of pain pills...his prognosis is 6 mos to a year.... Bill has never asked his prognosis and we have never told him...He is steadily going down hill... I have researched this deadly disease throughly.. hoping that I can find one sentence that could give us some hope..I totally believe in miracles and will not give up hope for this man who has never been in a hospital for anything and I always believed he was indestrucible... Please say a prayer for Bill ~~ I can't imagine losing him ~~ Gabi http://www.geocities.com/gabi_in_fl/QualityOfLife.html -------------------------------------------------------------- Good Morning Sisters, Just wanted to let you know that I have the first page up on my new website. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and for those of you who know it, I am now a K.O.P. (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) I started the first week in January of 2002. I counted Weight Watchers points to accomplish this because that's the only thing that's ever really worked for me. I also started my business selling my teether that I invented 3 yrs ago. It's on the website listed above. Thanks for all your support & love. Cathy Keller Contented Baby Products ********************************************************** © 2003 Monica Ingram. |
