Reggie Deal's Home Page
The place to come for great news, sports and weather coverage, and other useful information on a variety of interests!!!
Hi, this is Reggie. Welcome to my original website that launched December 27, 2000, updated December 27, 2008.
Here is a quick overview about me. I am 35, home is in San Marcos, Texas. I am a graduate student, getting my Masters in Counseling and Student Affairs in Higher Education.
I am interested in many things as this site reflects. Click on the news, weather, and sports link for various links related to those subject areas. This site also features a job section and a travel area, along with a state and federal government area, which is very useful for large numbers of things from travel in a particular state, to government jobs, forms, and much more. Please let me know if you come across any link that needs to be updated.
The site will also have an area that is more personal to me. It is also one that I hope gets visited by any person who visits this site. This section is about blindness... I am totally blind. I was born three months premature and because my lungs were naturally so underdeveloped, I was on lots of oxygen. That oxygen exposure and the early birth contributed to the retinas of my eyes becoming detached, thus making me unable to see. People some times are not sure how to refer to me when speaking about various things, so for future reference, it is perfectly normal to refer to me as blind and if you or I refer to me watching something on TV, we all know what I meant, but you would not ask someone did you hear the game on TV now would you? I am so fortunate in ways because of the things I don't see that allow me to know people for who they truly are. What a wonderful thing it is to meet someone and not notice their hair color, eye color, racial background, or their weight or height. Can life be a challenge for me, sure it is at times....But it is for all of us in some form or another as we wonder through the daily journey that is human existance. Now having said that, there are things about being blind that are unnecessarily difficult. Companies do not necessarily think of the blind when computer and other electronic systems are designed, creating unnecessary issues in areas of employment, E-Commerce, and online banking to just name some more common examples. There is a rich text file that you can click on for further reading. I have written the file in such away that might allow you to share this with people you know personally and professionally. It is my hope you will help me in creating this very essential awareness. view and save awareness document
This document was written in early August of 2007.
In addition to my web page, I have a blog that I now write on occasion dealing with issues that are both personal and national in scope. If you would like to read my writings, visit my blog and feel free to start your own blog if you choose, it's very easy.
Speaking of that journey, I always enjoy getting to know new people, so if you happen to visit this site for one reason or another, please feel free to touch base. There is a link below to the guestbook and I am going to develop some other feedback forms that will be of use. If you work in higher education in an academic advising or other staff position in academic/student afairs, I would particularly enjoy getting to know you and learning more about your campus. I will be graduating in August of 2009.
I would love to know how you found the site, so if you could very kindly click on Sign The Guest Book and fill in the form...Then click View Guest Book to see your entry and those before you who have been here...Guest book archives are also available, just click on guestbook Archive 1 or Guestbook Archive 2 to view earlier entries. For any comments or suggestions you can always send me email.
If you ever wondered what it would be like to make a team of your favorite players from your favorite sports team and compete against others in a simulated league that plays like a real sports league, check out WhatIfSports.com!. If someone wants more information on how the games and leagues work on this site, you can contact me as I have owned teams in various leagues. Each team is less than $10 accept baseball where each is 12.95, six packs are also available where you can purchase six teams for the price of five. Also you can try free exhibition leagues to get a feel for how the leagues operate, 4 games in the NFL simulations, 10 for all others. Regular season leagues are as they would be in real life, 16 NFL, 82 NBA, 82 NHL, 162 MLB. The site also offers games that work like other sims do, in this instance you are working in simulated real life conditions that allow you to build winning teams in college basketball, college football, car racing, and a baseball simulator that will teach you so much about the various aspects faced by a GM that you will think you can run your favorite organization after a while.
I cannot close without sending a big thank you to my mom Paula who learned HTML and who taught me the basics of html so I could bring this site to you. Mom's interests are quite different from mine and I encourage you to go to Mom's site. If you are particularly interested in Native American History, her site is one of the most informative on the world wide web!!
