My body was working feverishly to raise its temperature.
I was unsure at the time what was me happening to me. I would  understand afterward the anesthesia and the chill of the operating room had caused my body to lose some of its natural warmth. I begged the nurse to remove the ice pack that had been placed upon my groin in order to try to regain my normal body temperature. After some debate he agreed to take it off for a short period of time. I suppose he couldn't ignore the fact that I was still wildly shaking. He also added a couple more blankets, including an electric blanket. I was struggling to get warm as the pain finally registered with my mind. I have to admit it hurt worse than I had anticipated. The morphine helped magnificently with the pain, but it made me very drowsy. I suppose that would have been fine except for the fact that I desparately needed some water. I had a ton of pills I needed to pop as soon I could. I left my oldest sister in charge of administering a plethora of supplements I wanted to take after the surgery. The nurses wouldn't allow me any water for the next hour. They did allow me to suck on a moist washcloth and some ice cubes my sisters had prepared for me. My sisters asked Janet if she had been given anything to drink since she had returned from recovery. They made a fuss to the nurses after they were astounded to find out she had not been given anything to drink. Janet soon became endeared to my compassionate sisters after they tried to help her. It took about 30 minutes for my shivering to stop. Even though the ice pack was once again placed upon my groin I was beginning to feel toasty warm.

Hurts So Good

The nurses eventually brought me some water
to relieve my sore throat and dehydration. My sister quickly started handing me the pills which were taking the place of the anti-inflammatory and antibiotics medications I had asked Dr. Mnard to forgo. She was discreet and did a wonderful job as I had no idea what or how many I was taking. My other two sisters had to leave for home that evening. They agonized over staying another night, but knew they had to be back at work the next day. My oldest sister was going to stay until the next afternoon to help me with the meds and until I was somewhat cognizant of my surroundings. I vaguely remember my two sisters leaving that evening. I was so out of it due to the anesthsia and the morphine. I have an image of the smiles and the angst on their faces as they said goodbye. I was extremely grateful to see their beautiful faces before and after the surgery. Because my surgery was delayed the time we could spend together afterward was cut short. My grogginess made expressing my appreciation to them difficult and yet I'm sure my eyes were shedding tears just as they were. They left me with my oldest sister to keep me company until the next afternoon.
I experienced a poignant moment that evening
with the girl who had the burden of sharing a hospital room with Eva. I'm going to refer to her as Kate. My good fortune turned out to be Kate's misfortune when Dr. Mnard threatened Eva with the possiblity of not performing the SRS on her unless she straightened up. I felt bad she had to be the one to endure Eva's crap. I hoped to see her that evening once they arrived at the hospital. Even though my mind was murky I still felt it would be possible to ascertain how she was doing. After Kate arrived she eventually made her way into our room. A soft light shone upon her face as she moved in close to the bed. A very tender moment started to unfold when she held my hand and I looked up at her radiant face. She was just beaming while we chatted about the surgery and her misadventure with Eva. As soon as Eva arrived at the hospital she ordered a pizza to be delivered to the hospital. That was just the beginning of Eva's antics that night. I felt sorry for Kate as she described her frustration with Eva. Nonetheless we shared a sublimely sentimental moment that I will always remember.
