| Were Sex Toys On The List? Earlier that Saturday the four of us who were having our surgeries on Monday and Tuesday met with a young woman (she was the daughter of the owner of the residence) to go over all the paperwork and to make sure we had brought all the required items for our stay there. Signing the release forms was like surrendering my life. The surgery and all its inherent risks were explicitly detailed. I think every one of us wholeheartedly believed that nothing bad would happen. I know I had supreme confidence in Dr. Mnard and my preparations. We were asked to label our items pertaining to the post-op maintenance with our names. She also wanted to see the stents that we had brought with us. I went through an ordeal getting my stents. I ordered the stents from Heather at Duratek Plastics. A few weeks before I left for the residence she mailed the stents to me. Unfortunately, US customs wouldn't allow the stents in the country. Heather told me she had encountered the same thing after the events of 9/11. She told me customs perceived the stents to be some sort of projectile. She was really great about it. She sent another set to the residence via courier. At the time she said they kept several sets of stents at the residence because someone inevitably ended up needing them. Heather called me the day after I arrived to make sure the stents made it and to see how I was doing. She was such a sweetheart. Everyone of us had the proper stents except for my roommate. She figured that an assortment of different sized dildos would be a suitable substitute for the stents. This poor girl attending to us tried unsuccessfully to convince my roommate that her sex toys would not suffice. Lise, one of caretakers, finally came downstairs to reason with my roommie. A grand argument ensued concerning the efficacy of the dildos as a replacement for the stents. My roommate, who I will now refer to as Eva (as in Braun), seemed unable to follow any sort of dictate. The whole situation was sad, but laughable as well. Lise finally told her in no uncertain terms that Dr. Mnard was not going to go along with the sex toys as a substitute for the stents. That event was just one of many times in which one of the caretakers (or one of us) wanted to strangle Eva. At the end of our little meeting we were given a small teddy bear which was the compliments of a post-op gal who had stayed there and happened to own a toy company. I couldn't remember the last time I had owned a stuffed animal. I thought it was a nice gesture though and the bear slept with me every night while I was there. All My Sisters And Me I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my sisters and my TS friend. My sisters were going to be staying at a nearby bed and breakfast. I planned on getting them settled in that evening and then we were going out for dinner. They had been through so much during my transition and yet supported me all along the way. I was extremely grateful that they had decided to be there for my surgery. I really couldn't imagine not having them by my side after all they had done to help me get to this critical point in my life. I admired them for accepting me as their sister. They had learned many things about me and themselves in the process. I don't believe they had any idea what was in store for them during their stay in Montral. Watching their fledgling sister take the final step of transforming her body from male to female would be highly emotional in many ways. They would come together in a way that maybe they had never experienced before. BACK NEXT |
