9th January 2002 - Big Day Out Info
Heres some information regarding the Big Day Out, which starts next Friday in Auckland ::

"This year we will not be doing the LIVE webcast out of Melbourne as we have done for the last 4 years because the costs were unfortunately too prohibitive for us to provide it as a free service.
We WILL be arranging live CHATS and Tour Highlights and Interview Video stuff through the Site along with our mates Telstra and Communic8. The WEB CHATS will be available on the site from the Melbourne show 28th January and the Video stuff will start in Auckland and follow the tour through to Perth featuring short interviews and some highlights from side of stage."

So stay tuned to the Big Day Out website [www.bigdayout.com] and we may well get to see some of Amen
in action downunder.

Amen's timetable looks like this ::
18th January - Auckland, NZ - 12.30pm, Blue Stage
20th January - Gold Coast, AU - 12.00pm, Blue Stage
26th January - Sydney, AU - 12.15pm, Blue Stage
28th January - Melbourne, AU - 12.00pm, Blue Stage
01st January - Adelaide, AU - 9.15pm, Essential Stage [finally a good time!]
03rd January - Perth, AU - 12.00pm, Blue Stage

It looks like our boys are getting a hard time. Basically the first band of the day on the main stage in some towns. Surely being a big international band would mean better times but obviously not

In association with the Amen tour downunder, a special limited edition of 'We Have
Come For Your Parents
'  will be available in stores. I dont have too much details at the
moment on the release but the disc may contain '
War in your name' among other tracks,
and also two live tracks '
Nice to be here' , and 'Justified'. The disc will be realeased in
Australia, and most likely New Zealand. I will have more about the release soon.

As we all know Rich Jones formerly of the 'Black Halos' has joined Amen. I have the
opppurtunity to do a mini interview with Rich. So if there is any questions you would like answered by Rich with the list of questions i already have please
email me within the next 2 days. Serious questions only please. Hopefully this will shed some light into the legend that is Rich Jones.

I will hopefully have the entire interview up on this site before the Big Day Out. If not then afterwards.

10th January 2002 - Tour CD Update
I recieved an email from soundsnz.com, New Zealand's largest CD store chain with regards to the Amen limited edition cd. It doesnt look like it will be avaliable in New Zealand, as they have had no indication of the release. So maybe it will only be available to Australia. Which sucks. Keep you posted.

16th January 2002 - The latest from the road
Just got back from the Auckland Airport where i met the band. Waited from fucking 5am they didnt get here till 8am. All good though. Seemed relaxed and everything. Until we got the news that Sonny  hadnt made it through customs. We hung out for what seemed like an hour before we got more 'bad' news. The promotional material Amen brought into the country was deemed illegal under the 'rioting act' or something like that. They didnt take too kindly to the stickers reading 'Cops Suck Cocks'. The officers said that it would instigate rioting so they confiscated the bag. Meanwhile Sonny was nowhere to be seen. Sonny was picked at random and was taken into a closed room where god knows what happened. But when the chick officer came out about the Stickers she was wearing rubber gloves!!!......ouch. Poor Sonny. but i can confirm that nothing happened with the gloves. Anyway Sonny was let free and they headed for the hotel. i didnt see Tumor though. he'll be alright i think he's coming in tommorow, hopefully, otherwise i'll have to play bass!. i offered.....i have a chance. Im stage crew on the main stage.
Took lots of pictures so i'll have those up when i get them developed. Getting more tonight as we are going out for dinner and a bit of a drink. Hide the absynthe from Casey!!!

I can confirm that there will be a limited edition of 'We Have Come For Your Parents' available. I saw a copy today from Siobahn from the record company today. She then gave it too casey...arggg.
More news soon.

19th January 2002 - Auckland Show | Set List | WHCFYP CD Info
Well, its the day after the Auckland Big Day Out and i can tell you that yesterdays Amen performance was amazing. I dont really think words can describe what a fucking cool show it was. The band was on fire. I watched from the side of the stage Casey throwing himself around like a madman, jumping off the speaker systems, smashing his face with the microphone, getting into the mosh pit, and diving through the drum kit at the end of the show, taking out larkin and destroying our drum equipment. Casey also dedicated 'Drive' to me which was cool. I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. Hangin out backstage meeting all the bands [but i was really there to look after amen] settin up the bands gear and shit..
The show was the bands first in 4 months and the first show for the new year, and also the first show for guitarist Rich Jones, who played exceptionally well. It actually looked and sunded like he'd played 100 shows with them. I didnt notice any mistakes which shows how much he's worked, what a legend. All the boys were relaxed before the show and just walkin round chillin out, checkin some of the other bands out before them.
They were hangin out after their performance, checking out system of a down, prodigy and new order.

The system of a down show was something i wont forget, the barrier at the front of stage was collapsing about 2 songs into their set. it was on a 45 degree angle with the security desperatley trying to hold it there so that the people up front wouldnt get crushed if the barrier collapsed. System stopped the show to the fans dissapointment, but it was a wise move as people were getting hurt. numerous people had broken legs andwhat not. The organisers came out onto the stage and said that if people wont stop pushing to get to the front they were going to cancel systems show. The Amen boys were looking on as all of this was happening in amazement, then darren from system continued to play his guitar, some random old songs, before a organiser pulled the plugs out of his cabinets, darren then picked his guitar up and was about to smack the guitar over the guys head, but was joking and yelled "got ya". Everyone had a laugh over that, but unfortunatley for the other guy it wasnt so funny.

I would just like to thank Amen for being so fucking cool. They are the nicest bunch of guys ive ever met. I met alot of bands yesterday and Amen were by far the most non-arrogant out of all of them, they appreciated the fans and were just really nice to me, signing all my cds and shit and especially dedicating 'drive' to me that was just fucking fantastic. So big thumbs up to Sonny, Larkin, Tumor, Rich and Casey. See you all soon.

Auckland 18/01/02 [i got the actual set list. The songs are abbreviated obviously]
Coma

Justify

Im sure they played a new song, i cant remember. I'll get back to you about that. Though it doesnt say so on the set list. Got pics and shit coming within the next couple of days. If you take any pics at the next few big day outs, scan them and send em in.
If you wanna use this review on your website let me know ok. As long as you chuck my name on it and a link to this website all will be cool.

26th January 2002 - Amen on TV | Amen Guitar Tabs
Just watched the Big Day Out documentary on TV here in New Zealand. Had some nice shots of the band playing live aswell as a short interview with Casey, Sonny and Rich talking bout the 'Cops Suck Cocks' incident at the airport and a few other bits and pieces. The Amen segment was about 3 minutes.

I will add a new guitar tabs section to this website. Reid [Black Flag] will do most of the tabs. However this may take a while and please dont email me requesting songs. He will do as much as he can. Basically you can expect most of the songs from the two albums, and possibly 'Slave'.

The live webcast at the Sydney Big Day Out will not feature Amen as the thing starts at 4.00pm [Aussie time]. Amen played just a few hours ago at 12.00pm [Aussie time] so there wont be any footage of Amen.
