Bleed me dry

.Interlude.

Death and the insecurity were constants in Heero's life. After Relena Peacecraft's death there wasn't a single minute, he wouldn't feel threatened.

She has been the only friendly person in his life, a kind soul, someone who would stand for him and protect him just like he was there to keep her safe.

He had failed.

Even if it wasn't his fault, she was dead. Nonetheless, he blamed himself. He was trained to foresee situations like this and prevent them. And yet he wasn't there

It wasn't even an assassination attempt.

Senator Peacecraft'd insisted Relena should meet a son of an old influential family her father stepped into business with. His daughter took an immediate liking in the well bread, handsome young man. He was all gentle smiles, compliments and full of understanding. At least when he didn't drink too much.

It had happened during one of their quiet dates in the Peacecraft's mansion. Its security was tight and Mr. Peacecraft hoping for further development of his daughter's relationship forced Heero to leave the young couple completely alone.

It was the last day Heero saw Relena alive.

The well bread young man drunk much too much and Relena was made a target of his unwanted advances. Her screams brought all the servants to the place just in time to witness him crushing their lady's head into the marble frame of the fireplace.

She died on her way to the hospital.

Her grieve stricken father grew couple of years older over that night. Heero was made the target of his accusations. Understanding, that if he stayed where he was he would never leave the lab and probably even die, Heero made the first independent decision in his life. He had run.

His first self-appointed mission was to kill the bastard that dared to lay a hand on Relena. He did it brutally, too. The piece of trash didn't deserve more.

His act didn't stop Senator Peacecraft from sending assassins and headhunters after him. Death or alive was the difference of couple thousand dollars offered for his head. From time to time, they managed to trace him. And lately it happened much too often...

After a year of hiding and living under different personalities, he was getting frustrated. But he knew giving up was unacceptable. He would never come back in the hands of Dr. J and his mad scientists.

He was on the run again. Which time was it? He'd lost count long ago. He left his apartment in a hurry and was now slipping through the shadows of the back street behind the building that was his home for the last two weeks.

Suddenly a shadow rose before him. //There were two of them! K'so!!//

Without thinking, he grabbed a dagger and stabbed the man in the guts. His movements were so quick the other's eyes failed to register it. The man went limp in Heero's arms and something fell from his slack hands. A tranquillizer pistol.

Heero let the body fall to the ground with an audible thud. He wiped the blade free of blood and sheathed it back. His breath came in a rapid gasps. //Too close damn it!! Too close...//

A sound from the alley alerted him to another danger and grabbing the dead man's gun he hid in the dark shadows to his right.

His other pursuer approached cautiously, slowly making his way to the body lying on the ground. Heero held his breath when the man nudged his companion with his leg. He was standing barely two meters from Heero's hiding place.

Calmly Heero pointed the gun and shot the man. After a brief struggle to dislodge the dart, the man fell beside his dead partner.

Heero leaned over the wall relieved. He was still tense and didn't dare from the place.

Heero searched the bodies. They had no ID's but a lot of cash and guns. //Stupid.// He confiscated the money just in case and then quickly vanished from the place.

Not an hour later he was packed and on his way to another country. He even managed to dye his hair black, buy a set of brown contact lenses and glasses. He was Nizuomo Ryu, a computer specialist traveling in business all over the world.

Heero let himself breathe a sigh of relief. Slowly he relaxed against the seat. Such moments were rare and he savored them wherever he could.

He hoped he would have at least a month before Peacecraft's goons will trace him down again.

Miss Nicola York entered the plane breathless after a long run she had to make in order to make it in time before the machines takeoff. Shoving her ticket and the board card to the a little irritated flight attendant, she accidentally dropped all the colored catalogues she carried under her arm. They spread on the ground like a colorful Chinese fan.

"Oh! I'm so sorry..." she exclaimed

Her voice was low and carried the obvious ones of distress and desperation. She immediately bent down to collect the papers.

As she went to her sit, more then one set of eyes turned her way. But only one of them could see that all about Miss York was a lie and she herself a fake. Her long hair was a wig, her distressed grey eyes - contact lenses. Her breasts were made from silicon and her hips were padded.

She wore a long skirt and a pullover that reached to her knees, a matching blouse under it. She was obviously pretending to be a woman but at the same time trying to hide all her femininity under baggy clothes. She obviously did succeed. Most men after initial glance lost interests in what seemed to be a boring, clumsy woman with no sense of style.

He knew better.

"What a pleasurable surprise." He muttered under his breath. His purple eyes sparkled as he thought over the possibilities.

Heero fell onto his seat with a frustrated sigh. His feet ached even though he wore a low heel shoes, the bra was very uncomfortable so was the skirt.

Overall, this cover made him feel very self-conscious.

He had decided on this specific cover seeing a shop with women's clothing. He stole the cloths in the mall because he didn't want the clerks to remember him. How many men bought women's cloths *without* a woman by their side? Lacy underwear maybe, but not a complete set with a wig, shoes and cosmetics.

Putting the cloths on was a simple thing. Couple of adjustment and he decided it could go. Make-up was another thing. Sometimes he had seen Relena putting it but it wasn't quite the same. It took him couple of hours before he was pleased with the effect. And even then he had some reservations.

He had gone to the mall once again to try it out. No one gave him strange looks... he was actually ignored by the crowd of people. It suited him just fine.

When he was sure, he was safe he went to buy more clothes and suitcases. He needed some baggage he could take to the airport.

Sitting in his seat, Heero tried not to look around and meet anyone's eyes. He didn't want to engage in any discussions or pointless talks about nothing. Despite the voice modulator, he didn't want to test it at all. He had a long flight ahead and intended to make the most of it. Sleeping looked like a good idea....

Duo was watching his old/new obsession like a hawk watching his prey. Before the Japanese boy fell asleep the, vampire had picked enough information from Heero's scattered thoughts to know why and were he was going. And Duo already made some plans concerning the 'why'. No one had the right to hunt Heero, only him. No one should have the right to put that haunting look in Heero's beautiful eyes. He should be the only one Heero should be scared of.

//Those bastards will pay.//

He stood up and adjusting his glasses slowly made his way to the exit. Passing the sleeping Heero he quickly brushed his fingers over the warm skin. He shivered remembering just how wonderful it felt glistening from sweat, hot and sliding over his own cool one.

Delving into Heero's mind, he made sure the slumbering boy wouldn't wake. The curiosity if the nearby passengers were also taken care of.

Looking closely at Heero's calm face, he forced himself to withdraw his hand. He had tings to do, people to kill...

//This time I won't let you get away Heero... Soon you will be mine again...//

"And you will love it..." he whispered.
