Back
More Down Years

After four years of relitive sucess, the Red Wings ran out of gas. The team was an older team, so it was getting worn down from the long playoff runs. Unfortunately for Detroit fans, this ment a lack of Stanley Cups. In 1999 the Wings lost in the second round once again to the Colorado Arrogance. In 2000 and 2001, the Red Wings lost in the first round. A change was needed. The Red Wings had to make a couple deals to get more talent and hunger to win the Cup. The Wings got the greatest goalie, Dominik Hasek. This then ment, that Christ Osgood, the previous number one goalie had to get traded. I didn't like this because Ozzie was one of my favorite players, but I took it in stride, knowing that with Dom, we would have a better chance of winning the Cup. The Wings also got Luc Robatialle, Brett Hull, and Fredrick Olasson. The Wings made changes that would once again give them a good chance of winning the Cup in 2002.
