In the summer of 2001, the Wings made a lot of changes. They got rid of Osgood, to my regret and sadness. But the team was poised at the front runner of the Stanley Cup, housing multiple Future Hall of Famers. Those people were Yzerman, Lidstrom, Hull, Shannahan, Chelios, Larionov, Hasek, Federov, and Robatialle. Four of the Wings had scored 500 goals, which is a major accomplishment. Also, the most famed power play consisted of Lidstrom, Federov, Yzerman, Shannahan, and Hull. These five men have 14 Stanley Cup rings, and almost inconcievable stat numbers. The Red Wings hadn't won anything though, and they new that. Multiple Wings played in the
Olympics, as did Steve Yzerman. Unfortunately, he was skating on a sore knee. Even though he still won a gold medal as a member of the Canadian Hockey team, and led the Wings to the Cup once again.
