Designed and built for Jesse Hartley for the sum of �514,475 8s 1d, and opened by Prince Albert in 1846
Albert Dock with the Anglican cathedral in the background. The Albert Dock represents Britain's largest group of grade one listed buildings and contains one and a quarter million square feet of floor space.

White Star Line Buildings designed 1897. The sinking of the Titanic was announced from the balconies of this building to an angry and frightened crowd below. 

The Liver Buildings, 1908-1911 with the Liver Birds on the top, is one of the 3 graces. the first large scale building to be built with reinforced concrete in the world.  Carl Bernard Bartels, (1866-1955) designed the Liver Birds, he was detained in the Isle of Man during WW1 for being a German national and forcibly repatriated after the war..
