| Mission Statement: Central Washington University's GALA-Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender , and Straight Alliance (GLBTSA's) mission is to provide an atmosphere on campus, in thr Ellensburg community, and beyond, of acceptance for all people regardless of sexual orientation, religious affiliation, ethnicity, sex, ability, age or class. GALA-GLBTSA provides leadership, training, and advancement opportunities in social, political, and educational avenues. GALA-GLBTSA provides an avenue to assist Central Washington University in soliving human rights problems on our campus, in our community (Ellensburg), within the state of Washington, and beyond. Preamble We, GALA-Gay, Lebian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Straight Alliance, in order to represent diversity interests, needs, and welfare; need to maintain social, and cultural heritage; to educate the university, community, the state, and beyond on issues affecting human equity; to promote and coordinate the celebration of diversity, to promote political change for human equity do hereby estalish this constitution. Article I - Name The name of this organization shall be "GALA-Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Straight Alliance" (GLBTSA) of Central Washington University. Hereafter it will be referred to as GALA-GLBTSA. Article II - Membership "All are welcome, no questions asked, no assumptions made." It is an understanding that all members will hold strict confidentiality when dealing with questions of other member's sexual orientation to anyone outside GALA-GLBTSA. Memberships is open to all who wish to be involved in the activities of the organization, and who agree to uphold and respect, the mission statement, constitution, and members of the organization. Voting Membership is comprised of members who are University students attending 3 or more meetings in a GALA-GLBTSA academic year. Should any voting member fail to demonstrate compliance with membership requirements, their voting membership can be terminate only after a Formal Hearing, rendering a two-thirds majority vote of a quorum. Article III - Executive Officers Section 1: Executive Officers consist of President, Vice President, Guess the Straight Coordinator, Hate Crimes Coordinator, and Discussion Panel Coordinator. The responsibility to make a good faith effort to create, and facilitate programs such as Freedom to Marry, Day of Silence, and Pride Fest are the responsibility of the board, and shall be completed by any member(s) of the Executive board. The Executive Officers shall perform their duties set hereafter, and shall use GALA-GLBTSA funds under the guidance of the President and Vice President to fulfill GALA-GLBTSA's needs as per the Mission Statement, Constitution and By-Laws. Section 2: President shall see that the provisions of the Mission Statement, Constitution, By-Laws, and Budget are properly carried out. The President shall run all Executive Board meetings. The President will set up and facilitate an Executive Board Retreat, and In-Service training of no less then 10 hours; focusing on team building, and leadership skills. The President shall organize, create, and facilitate one program a quarter to build leadership skills with the GALA-GLBTSA membership. The President is expected to make a good faith effort to facilitate in the absence of any Executive Officer for any scheduled program. Section 3: Vice President shall assume the duties of the President in the temporary or permanent loss of the president. In the permanent lose of the President, a new Vice President will be elected following all regular election requirements. Vice President shall work in a complimentary fashion to the President and shall see that the provisions of the Mission Statement, Constitution, By-Laws and Budget are properly carried out. The Vice-President shall organize, create, and facilitate one program a year that is focuses on an audience larger than the membership of GALA-GLBTSA on diversity issues. The Vice President shall keep minutes of all Executive meetings and distribute them to any GALA-GLBTSA member who wishes to have them. The Vice-President is expected to make a good faith effort to facilitate in the absence if any Executive Officer for any scheduled program. Section 4: "Guess the Straight" Coordinator (GS Coordinator) shall organize, create, and facilitate activites that will enhance the knowledge, and social lives of GALA-GLBTSA members and the large community on GLBTSA issues. The GS Coordinator is responsible to make a good faith effort to schedule and facilitate over all Guess the Straight Panels. In addition the GS Coordinator shall make a good faith effort to implement two programs a quarter of an educational and political nature outside of the membership of GALA-GLBTSA, in which one program maybe a collaboration with one or more of the other Coodinators. Section 5: "Hate Crimes" Coordinator (HC Coordinator) shall organize, create and facilitate activites that will enhance the knowledge, and social lives of GALA-GLBTSA members and the larger community on GLBTA issues. The HC Coordinator is responsible yo make a good faith effort to schedule and facilitate over all H ate Crimes Programs. In addition the HC Coordinator shall make a good faith effort to implement two programs a quarter of a education and political nature with in the membership of GALA-GLBTSA, in which one program may be a collaboration with one or more of the other Coordinators. The HC Coordinator shall make a good faith effort to implement two programs as quarter of a educational and political nautre outside of the membership of GALA-GLBTSA, in which one program may be a collaboration with one or more of the other Coordinators. Section 6: "Discussion Panel" Coordinator (DP Coordinator) shall organize, create, and facilitate activites that will enhance the knowledge, and social lives of GALA-GLBTSA members and the larger community on GLBTSA issues. The DP Coordinator is responsible to make a good faith effort to schedule and facilitate . |
