"The red pill" is a metaphor for setting yourself free. It is a reference to the 1999 film The Matrix, in which a young man named Neo is confronted with two options; to take the blue pill and continue living his life in blissful ignorance, or to take the red pill and know the truth. The red pill I am referring to is much different in premise than a sci-fi action movie, but both kinds of redpill deal with confronting the truth.
