Moduro seems an innocuous character, an old man who was given eternal life by Pravus Malum if he would act as his servant.
Moduro was imprisoned sometime in the 1700's as a heretic by the imperial Inquistors, and was given new life by Malum. Moduro has acted as his servant ever since.
Moduro seems to have been expecting the group, saying his master told him they would be there soon. He offered to show them an exit and give them an escort if one of them would test the machine he has built for his master, but the group declined.
They attacked Moduro, but after a few moments, accepted his offer to withdraw.
However, the group returned to the crystal room, where Shakaku burned Moduro to death.
