red5 is a band. they play music. they rock out. let me tell you a bit about us. our hometown is gainesville, florida. it's really our adopted hometown as the three of us are really from all over. we all grew up in small towns with nothing to do but skate and write music. well, i haven't skated in a few years but i still write music.

funny story...we all met in a college jazz class and rehearsed in the band hall, working on punk songs and ruining old jazz tunes. ok, so it wasn't so funny but it sure is true.

my name is alex. my friends call me alex. i play the guitar and sing some words. i've been writing and playing since i can't even remember any more. i'm sorry, it's just my outlet and i will contine writing and performing until cows fall from the sky. it seems to be working so far because you guys like us enough to come check out our website so kudos to me.
lest you think i'm conceited and self absorbed, let me redeem myself. i couldn't write the music you've come to love as red5 without a couple very important people. the first is the master of the drum kit and professor of writing harmonies..dave kuhn. i grew up with dave playing drums when we were younger and he's been playing music since he could walk; i'm completely conviced of that. the other party could be known as hose-b, hose-beast, jos, or quite simply, jose. i met jose at the fine institute of higher learning known as LSCC. he seemed like me; playing his guitar in the courtyard just for the sheer joy of it. jose brings an energy to our music that just would not be there without him. and the boy can write some lyrics, i swear.

there is one other member of our band whom without we just would not function. his name is dan but i like to refer to him as our duct tape technician. he keeps everything running and working and saves our butts when we do dumb things like drop guitars or drum sticks. we love him and it just wouldn't be the same without him.

so there you have it. the members of red5. the band name has been around for a while but the four of us have been together since 2000 i think. starting out small and now branching out to other towns and eventually we will conquer the world...well maybe not, but i'd sure like to try. so if you happen to get a chance, come to one of our shows, get rocked, and come up and say hi..we'd appreciate the fuel for our ego. until then, we'll be kickin' it at the taco johns or rocking out some stage with some equally glorious band. peace.
