| Ok, This will be the last update I do.. I have put alot of work into this up to now, but I realize I could write a book on the subject before I would be done.. So all I can really say is look through this tutorial (small as it may be) and try to just practice some of the stuff and you will eventually catch on to how it works. I self taught myself so I know it can be done if you have patience and the imagination to do it.. : ) First off, if you havent already, go download hammer.. Now after you get the download install it in its default directory which will be c:/programfiles/valve Now go and download the tools.. Its really large so give it time.. now when you have the tools go here. Now follow those instructions on where to place stuff.. : ) So when its all in the right folders and you have everything set up.. fire up hammer.. First off dont touch new.. : ) go straight to Tools-----Options Now follow the directions I have in there for finding your directories.. not all people have tribes 2 or hammer in the c:/ drive so you will have to use common sense and replace c:/ with your directory... Now when you have all the paths done go to the textures tab and choose "a" wad as in 1 wad.. : ) cant do more then one.. tribes 2 and hammer wont let youa dn it will even warn you to that effect..(tho some people still believe its possible and ignore the warning..) Now you have everything set up.. click on new project and go to it.. make some boxes witht he brush tool and hit enter when you have the box set up.. (took me forever to figure that out) then play with carve and clip.. carve just to see why we say not too and clip because its better then carve.. : ) make some angles and flip through the clip modes to see what it does.. (flip the modes by clicking on the clip tool icon) Now follow my texture application tutorial to see how to do textures.. Now the rest is up to you.. : ) have fun and be patient.. : ) You can email me with questions but now that I am doing my game it eats up alot of my time.. I will try to reply within 24 hours if I am available so dont freak out and throw your computer out the window.. : ) That is about it for now.. : ) If things go well I will tryt o come back and finish this up more proffesionally but for now you will have to deal with what I have so far.. (better then nothing tho) |
