�This company, known as the "Tuckahoe Braves," was raised in Lenoir County where it enlisted on April 27, 1861. It was mustered into service on June 20, 1861, and was later assigned to the 27th Regiment as Company D. After joining the regiment the company functioned as a part of the regiment, and its history for the war period is reported as a part of the regimental history.
