Rebecca’s First Year Milestones
Month 1
March 9 born at 2:34p at Kaiser Hospital, Santa Clara
March 22 finally, both eyes are open
Month 2
May 4 1st ear to ear smile – as a first time parent, I was just waiting for that first smile. I’d see involuntary twitches and ask, "was that a smile?" When you see the real thing, you’ll know.
1st big spit up – As I was burping Rebecca on my bed in the middle of the night, I heard 2 major heaves in a row, then was drenched in spit up down my back, on my lap and on the bed and pillow
1st smile at self in the mirror
May 6 1st smile for dad
Month 3
Early May starts sucking her fists
blows abundant amounts of bubbles
then finds her fingers, which, by her eagerness, seem to be the tastiest things ever
sees Mom and Dad (hard to identify this milestone – she "sees" Mom all the time since she eats so often!)
May 13 As Auntie Diana was holding Rebecca at Yeh-Yeh’s house, Rebecca started smacking her lips, or sucking on her lower lip, as she watched Yeh-Yeh hand out preserved plums to her young cousins
May 24 slept through the night at 10 hours at a time
June 3 found her feet
June 4 bats a toy on the Gymfiniti
June 8 kicks toys on the Gymfiniti
Month 4
Mid-June very chatty in the evenings, especially at ceiling fans
June 20 grasps a toy voluntarily; favorites toys include plastic shapes and smiley face rattle
June 21 squeals at a toy
June 26 rolled back to front
Month 5
July 14 started solids
July 22 holds feet
July 23 spit up while on her tummy, then face planted into it
July 26 laughs out loud
July 27 sits up
Late July stops sleeping through the night
Month 6
August 14 starts daycare with Robin’s nest, becomes noticeably interested in toys and other children
August 21 Eileen starts new job at hpshopping.com
August 22 says da-da
August 30 moves from her belly to sitting up, rocks back and forth on all 4’s
Early September back to sleeping through the night
September 18 Crawling and Pulling Up
