Lead reporter on historic 2004-05 governor’s election, recount and legal challenge. Extensive experience writing about health care, gay rights, child welfare, budgets, politics, the elderly, and dogs.      November 1999-June 2005.
  • Writer, Seattle, Wash.  — Reported and wrote breaking news and enterprise for broadcast and print. Covered business, crime, education, social issues; AP’s lead writer covering World Trade Organization protests. March to November 1999.

The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, N.C.

  • Transportation columnist — Wrote weekly column on commuting. Topics included highway construction, ghostly mules haunting local streets, and why men and women can't understand each other's directions. October 1996 to March 1999.
