'Doolittle'
The Pixies
Doolittle
1987
4AD
By Chris Shipman
The kings of Garage grunge had their peak with this 1987 album.  Filled up to the brim with riffs and screaming vocals and passion 'Doolittle' is everybit the Pixies.
Starting off with the great songs 'Debaser' and 'Wave of Mutilation' in the first few tracks the listener is drawn in by  the songs that rarely clock over three minutes long and infact, if I have one complaint about this album it is that the songs are not long enough.  The Pixies rarely go deep in their lyrics but the guitars say it all - This is a band that is accessable and could be any garage band in America, and oh yeah, they rock too.

Best Bits: 'Debaser', 'Wave of mutilation', 'Monkey Gone To Heaven'

Grade: A-
