| Nirvana In Utero 1993 Geffen By Chris Shipman |
||||||||||||
| This album by Nirvana saw them jump off the bandwagon that they were driving. Loud and grating sounds seemed completely different to the album 'Nevermind' - released two years previous. Well almost. Songs like 'Scentless Apprentice', 'Milk it' and 'Radiofriendlyunitshifter' summed up totally the anti-MTV policy of Nirvana. However Cobains pop sensibility songwriting is revealed on 'Heart Shaped' box and the hidden gem of 'In Utero' - 'All Apologies'. This album also showcases Kurts talents as a songwriter perfectly. Packed full of references to depression, love and drugs this album will throw you down make you feel like an ant and stomp all over you. Some of the songs however are a bit one dimensional and lack any punch. Not totally classic - but not far off... Best Bits: 'Heart Shaped Box', 'Radio Friendly Unit Shifter', 'All Apologies' Grade: B |
