| Everclear So Much For The Afterglow 1997 Capitol By Chris Shipman |
||||||||||||
| Everclear's set up of depressing lyrics in a happy punk/emo format is re-enforced in this album. Art's songwriting has improved even more with heartbreaking tales of abandon ('Father of mine'), addiction ('Amphetimine') and lack of faith ('Why I don't believe in god'). Couple this with some amazingly catchy songs, even if they are poppy and you have an album that will not leave your CD player for many weeks. However, this album is not as heavy as other Everclear LP's such as the great 'Sparkle and fade' or 'World of Noise'. This is one of those albums that you will not tire off and has been a perminant fixture on my 'playlist' for the last four months after I bought it on a whim. I was not disappointed and neither will you be. Best Bits: 'So much for the afterglow', 'Why I don't Believe in god', 'Amphetamine'. Grade: A |
