Make a Personal Donation: Your donation becomes a personal statement of understanding the issues impacting people living in low income areas. Shop a Corporate Sponsor: Throughout the year the LaStraw will be hosting activities and requesting corporate sponsorship and whether it is in Kind support or a monetary donation, their investment in the community will be publicized. In addition to your personal donation, encourage your favorite retailer to support activities hosted by the LaStraw. Become a Champion: Advocate for those living in low income areas. Speak out against soci-economic profiling - the practice of dismissing a person based on their income. Understand there are many eason an individual may find themselves living in a low income area and the exit stratedgy is not as simple as some people make it out to be. Encourage others you know to donate - no matter how small. One of the greatest things about people living in low income areas is we are great at making something out of nothing. Request a matching gift from your employer: By finding out your Employer's Match requirements, enrollment periods and the process for setting up a payroll deduction your donation creates a gift that keeps on giving. Make in-kind donations or volunteer professional services: In this economic climate EVERY LITTLE BIT helps we rely on donations to make sure we never have to charge for any services we provide. As we grow, the more we get, the more we are able to pass on to members in the community.
