May 3, 2009 - Sunday Day Trip (Troy, NC)
F.E.N.C.E. has a Nature Center focusing on Environmental Education, a therpeutic riding program teaching horsemanship skills to adults and children with physical and developmental disabilities, and an equestrian center that has gained a reputation as one of the finest facilities of it's kind in the Southeast. 

May 30, 2009 - 5th Annual Beautiful Black Women Festival (hosted by Them Five)
The LaStraw has invited
GinaRenay (displace Hurricane Katrina Evacuee) to present her Atlanta based crocheted fashion show to Greensboro, NC.  She is a testament to resiliency.
Colgate's Bright Smiles Bright Future Program - The Mobile Dental Van will be on hand from 1pm - 6pm for children to age 8
We will also host three tables with targeted information on women, men and children's health  

July 11, 2009 - Breast Cancer and Black Women
To educate black women 18-35 about the importance of receiving regular breast self-exams, having routine clinical exams, and mammograms.  Hosted simultaneously in four Greensboro Housing Authority communities the conference will underscore the importance of good health, the participants value to their community, raise awareness about the impact of catastrophic illness, and provide steps to ensure good health becomes their primary focus.  Participants will be left with information resources and community partners to support a health focused movement in their community.
