Think Command & Conquer, samurai version. This war/strategy game is based on true historical figures and battles. Two rival clans are at war, in a race to destroy the other. You must defend your land as well as your soldiers, which are well into the ten-thousands, armed only with spears, rifles, and cannons. Kessen is one war that must be carefully planned in order to survive. Can you do it?
The Pros
The Gameplay
The way the battles are fought is pretty simple. You are given a number of generals, of whom each have their own army of men and special attacks. There is no base building; the objective is to eliminate your enemy. You cannot just charge the enemy, but you must carefully plan the location and the time of your attack. The wrong move can mean your death. What�s cool in Kessen are the various special attacks each general possesses. It can range from a rifle barrage, to a spear wall, to a one-man killing spree. With each special attack comes a cool looking cutscene of the attack.
The Graphics
Kessen contins some very impressive looking FMVs. The characters look extremely well done, not to mention cool looking especially with some of the crazy looking helmets most of these guys wear. The many special attack cut scenes never get boring to look at. The animation looks very smooth and clean, considering that there may be over a hundred characters on the screen.
