A game where you are placed in the middle of a full scale riot. Sounds like an interesting idea for a game. A shadowy corporation has seized control of the country and the people have taken to the streets in protest. The people at Rockstar are beginning to make a name for themselves with their creative and original insights in their games. Grand Theft Auto III was the first step. And now, State of Emergency has followed.
The Pros
The Concept
How many games are there where you are placed in a riot, with literally hundreds of other on screen characters, all running around, each reacting differently to your actions? None that I can think of. I believe SoE is the first of its kind, with its original concept and its borderline rating between Mature and Adults Only. Basically, Rockstar came up with the idea that it would be cool to run around breaking, windows, blowing up cars, and massacring bystanders, fellow looters and rioters, all for the sake of putting your name in the High Score.
The Fun Factor
State of Emergency really doesn�t offer a whole lot, as far as variety goes. The basic purpose is to rack up as many points as you can before you get killed, or time runs out. It sounds rather bland when you say it like that but when you play, you will see that it�s fun to blow stuff up and kill people, which can keep you hooked on this game for hours on end.
