Chapter One - The Cocoon Na�f, [a young cat-girl with short silvery hair and beautiful aquamarine coloured eyes and gray ears and tail tipped in a shining golden colour] is wondering along through a forest path, a white-capped stream pouring along side. The stream giggles and burbles as it pours through rocks and over small hills in recreation of smaller, less mighty waterfalls. She hums as she walks before gazing into the water and watching the water brush past the bank and through it's small maze towards its ever hurried destination. Suddenly she sees an odd white object rested amongst the rocks. She moves closer towards the river, fluffy golden tipped tail swishing softly as she moves closer to the gurgling stream in eager curiosity. There nestled between a bed of rocks was a cocoon of some sort. She reaches out to retrieve it from the rocks when suddenly a fast swell of water engulfs the cocoon and rushes on with it in its watery grasp. Na�f makes a soft and utterly surprised noise before jumping to her bare feet and races after the surely doomed egg. She sees a fallen tree which sits uneasily over the bustling river and runs to it, climbing on it and reaching in to the water to scoop up the cocoon. With a soft cry of relief she hugs the egg to her chest and starts to crawl away from the tree when it cracks beneath her and she crashes into stream which is much deeper here. She screams and holds the cocoon close to her trying to escape the current. Looking up a large waterfall breaks before her, she stifles a startled cry and only embraces the cocoon tighter, refusing to lose it as well as her own life. The waterfall looms closer and she squeezes her eyes shut. Suddenly she feels herself being flung over the edge of the waterfall and hears a noise she knows to be a scream though she can hardly recognize that the scream comes from her mouth. She crashes into the water below and then, everything goes black... Na�f's eyes slowly flutter open to reveal before her a large beautiful forest and a land of ice and snow. She gaps in surprise and in awe until she realizes the cocoon is nowhere to be found. She climbs to her feet searching for the cocoon with frantic and frightened eyes. She slowly collapses onto the ground again, expression sullen at the loss of the cocoon. Looking down she notices animal like tracks in the dirt near the water. Had something come to retrieve the cocoon while I slept? She shakes her head and pulls up her knees laying her head on them and wrapping her tail around herself. Stares out into the lake beyond and up at the waterfall. Suddenly there is a soft voice behind her and a beautiful glimmering creature steps out. It looks like a fox but something tells her that it isn't one. *You are correct, I am not a fox. I am what you would call an Egyptan. You can learn all about me and my kind from here.* He gently nudges a book towards her. She looks at it and tilts her head, there seem to be a set of coordinates on the cover. She looks back up and the Egyptan continues. *I saw how you saved my cocoon from falling over the waterfall. I thank you, and for your kind and generous help I wish to reward you.* Na�f gave him a look of confusion until he walked away for a moment then returned with the cocoon in his mouth. He walks all the way up to her and sets it at her feet. *Take good care of it. I don't believe I have to tell you much else.* He turns and vanishes back into the forest. Smiling happily she scooped up the cocoon into her arms and looked back at the book.
