Are Southern Baptists honest? It is a question that automatically invokes a reaction. Anger, sadness, disbelief...how could you question the honesty of an entire group of people? So, it is important to address where this question comes from. As a start point, I am not saying that all Southern Baptists are dishonest. I think the vast majority of Southern Baptists are honest, loving individuals. However, the Southern Baptist Convention, the governing body of their church, is not treating the Jewish people in an honest fashion. There is a movement called "Messianic Judaism", in which the movement's members claim that they are Jews who believe in Jesus. The sad truth is that Messianic Judaism is a Christian creation to try to convert Jews. In fact, numerous "Messianic" congregations are actually members of the Southern Baptist Convention. The Southern Baptist Convention has been clear of their desire to convert the Jewish people, and even declared 1996 as the year for focusing on converting Jews to Christianity. Simple logic states that any "Messianic" organization belonging to the Southern Baptist Convention is not a real Jewish group, but a front for Christian evangelism. So, as a warning, the following "Messianic" congregations are full members of the Southern Baptist Convention; links are provided to their listing on the Southern Baptist Convention web-site: Adat Shalom Messianic Congregation of Dallas, Texas: Click Here Adonai Shalom/Sha'ar of Adonai of New York, New York: Click Here Baruch HaShem Jewish-Christian Synagogue of Peculiar, Missouri: Click Here Beth-El Messianic-Christian Congregation of Cleveland, Ohio: Click Here Beth-El Shaddai Messianic Jewish Congregation of Bessemer, Alabama: Click Here Beth El Shaddai Messianic Fellowship of Torrance, California: Click Here Beth Sar Shalom Messianic Jewish Congregation of Boynton Beach, Florida: Click Here Beth Shalom Messianic Congregation of Helena, Montana: Click Here Beth Yeshua HaMashiach of Houston, Texas: Click Here B'Nai Ohr Messianic Jewish Fellowship of Lindenhurst, Illinois: Click Here

There are a number of groups that provide Countermissionary Counseling. Here are links to a few of them: Alternatively, you can call them at 1-800-4PROOF1 with general questions about missionary claims.
Here are a number of great sites that counter missionaries and explain the differences in belief between Judaism and Christianity, including addressing the Biblical verses that missionaries try to use against the Jews and explaining why the missionaries are incorrect. For the most in-depth analysis of verse by verse questions, go to Messiah Truth (sections on Counter-Missionary: Multi-media training [this can be read without being "multi-media"], Knowing Your Orchard and Judaism's Answer), Jews for Judaism (in their Reference Section (please note that the Isaiah topics tend to be under "Suffering Servant" part of the "Proof Text" section) and the Q & A section of Outreach Judaism.
