Chapter Twelve
Nar.: Crytos finished his cup of tea as he headed up to Patricks room to wake him up. He turned the corner and looked up. The teacup fell from his limp hands and crashed to the floor. In front of him, Votor had just stepped out of his room. He looked like his normal self, except that the top chunk of his normally dark brown hair was now a neon magenta pink. Votor looked at Crytos and yawned.

Votor: Hey what are you looking at?
Crytos: Your your hair
Votor: Huh? Oh Hide helped me do it yesterday after I lost the guitar in the race
Crytos: Right Ill Ill see you later.

Nar.: Crytos hurried down the hall, and into Patricks room. Crytos threw open the doors, and they banged loudly against the wall. Patrick jumped up from his bed and fumbled around for his glasses.

Patrick: Whos there?
Crytos: Its me.
Patrick: Ah. (putting on his glasses) Whats all the excitement?
Crytos: Oh Its nothing really. Votor dyed his hair pink.
Patrick: Pink?! Why pink?
Crytos: Dont ask me. Anyway, shall we go to the lab?
Patrick: Yeah. One second.

Nar.: Patrick walked behind a screen and melted into his goo form and reformed dressed in normal everyday clothing. He walked over to a wall unit and punched in the code for a cup of tea and sandwich. Within seconds, the tea and sandwich appeared in a little compartment below the command buttons. Patrick grabbed them, and he and Crytos exited the room.

Patrick: So what do you want to do?
Crytos: I was thinking on either starting on Morpheus or Sho.
Patrick: Whats the deal with Sho anyway?
Crytos: I dont know. Dr. Raelani said shed join us in our work someday soon.
Patrick: Then shouldnt we wait longer before disturbing them?

Nar.: Crytos and Patrick walked through the doors to their laboratory. Crytos flicked on the lights and walked over to a nearby desk.

Patrick: Hey Crytos Did we leave Sho on the floor?
Crytos: (looking for a pen) No. Why?
Patrick: Cause hes there now.
Crytos: What?
Nar.: Crytos turned around and looked where Patrick was looking. Sho was slumped against the wall under a window. Crytos took out his smelling salts and held them under Shos nose. Sho awoke with a shudder and looked around him, getting his bearings.

Sho: Who are you?
Crytos: I am Crytos and this is Patrick.
Patrick: Hi.
Sho: Hi Where am I?
Patrick: The Castle of the Crimson Moon.
Sho: Um okay.
Crytos: So, how are you feeling?
Sho: Well, Im not dead
Patrick: Thats good.

Nar.: Sho stood up and tested out his limbs. He saw the other two tables and walked over to them remembering the night before.

Sho: Who are they?

Nar.: Crytos and Patrick walked up behind him.

Crytos: Thats Calia Ballard and thats Morpheus Dominaria.
Patrick: No not Morpheus. Valandriel Gasparte.
Crytos: Oh yeah.
Sho: Gasparte?
Patrick: Yup.
Sho: Um okay. Whats wrong with them?
Crytos: I dunno. We were going to find out.
Patrick: Wait a second. How are you alive and well?
Sho: Huh? Didnt you do something?
Crytos: No. We were going to start today.

Nar.: Sho was surprised. He looked down at his shirt. The sword wound was gone, but his shirt was still ripped and bloody. There wasnt even a trace of a scar left to mark where the wound had been. He again remembered the night before.

Sho: Was my wound possible to heal with magic?
Patrick: Nope. You were supposed to have been operated on.
Sho: Really. What happened to that necklace thing that I was wearing?
Crytos: Dont you still have it?
Sho: No.

Nar.: Suddenly, the door of the lab flew open. Dr. Raelani Suzuko walked in. She was surprised to see Sho up and talking.

Raelani: Hello. What happened?
Crytos: We dont know. He was fine when we came in.
Raelani: Interesting. (to Sho) ShDoth May I have a word with you privately? Well start on Morpheus tomorrow I want to investigate this further.

Nar.: Sho nodded at Dr. Raelani, and they left the room. Crytos and Patrick looked at each other.

Crytos: Want to see if we can see what Morpheus is thinking?
Patrick: Sure, why not? Ill hook him up to The Machine. Im very curious with how that thing works.

Nar.: Patrick got the numerous devices ready for Morpheus, while Crytos pushed the bed under the hood. Patrick flipped on the power and programmed the computer to monitor Morpheuss brainwaves and change them into what he was seeing onto a screen. Crytos hooked up a television to The Machine and popped in a CD to record what was going on on the screen. Once everything was set up, they turned on the television. The screen remained black, except for a small point of light in the distance. Crytos walked over to a food replicating device on the wall and got them both popcorn and soft drinks, while Patrick got two of the dreaded comfy chairs. They settled in and listened to the music that was playing.

Nar.: Morpheus was still walking towards the light.

Hootsutau namida nuguisaru yo subete

Suddenly streaks of light started shooting past him, seeming to come from the light. He continued to walk, hoping to not be the path of a ray of light, for he preferred the dark.

Ureshii namida ni kaeteikeru subete

Then, he was hit. A searing pain filled his mind and body as it passed through him. It stopped shortly after, and he continued towards the light.

Sou bokudake wo terashite yo sono hohoemi de

He was repeatedly hit, until he finally fell to the ground. Morpheus pulled himself to his feet and was immediately hit again. He fell a second time. He got up again and continued walking.

Kamisama no niwa de tsunagareta futari tomadoinagara arukihajimeru

As he neared the tunnel of light, a figure materialized before him. It was the figure of the revered god of Trilanna, Sott. Morpheus walked up to Sott.

Kizutsuita toki wa boku ga sobani iru mitasareteita kimi wo sagashini Dont be afraid

They stood there in silence for a moment, regarding each other. Morpheus was hit again by a bolt of light which passed through Sott. Sott didnt seem to flinch, but Morpheus fell forward for the third time. He pulled himself up, so that he was kneeling in front of Sott.

Ima bokudake wu mitsumete yo hanasani kara

Sott: Who are you? And why do you dare seek godhood through a dreamquest?
Morpheus: I am MorValandriel Gasparte of Trilanna, but I know not of this godhood you speak of.
Sott: These are the gates of Shangri-la and the pathway to the gods. I, Sott, am a god and I caution you. If you become a god, you must give up human thing.

Nar.: Morpheus looked at Sott.

Morpheus: Who said I wanted to become a deity?
Sott: Well Youre here, no?
Morpheus: Yeah so? I probably made a wrong turn back there.

Nar.: Sott looked at Morpheus with curiosity.

Sott: You dont want to be immortal and all-powerful?
Morpheus: Well.. if youre going to keep insisting. I mean someone sent me here. What do I have to do?
Sott: Um Ioh, go through the tunnel of light and search for ambrosia and then eat it. It tastes kinda like jell-o.
Morpheus: Um Right. So, if thats all, Ill be seeing you as a god later.

Nar.: Morpheus passed through the old man into the light. He felt his body start to float as he made his ascent into Shangri-la.

Nar.: Daltran and Arden walked through the halls of the Castle of the Crimson Moon. They could find no one to inquire the whereabouts of Morpheus, until they stumbled upon John, Votor, and Luna in one of the rooms. They had been listening to Votor play Hides guitar, and were now commending him on his talent.

Luna: That was great! Play something else. Play the chocobo song!

Nar.: Votor ran his hand through his pink hair, smiled, and nodded. He moved his hand into position to play the chords for the song. Arden took on look at Votors pink hair and orange clothing and decided they were far from the enemy. They entered the room, and its three occupants looked at Arden and Daltran.

John: Whore you?
Daltran: Its not important. Wheres Morpheus?
Luna: Whos Morpheus?

Nar.: Daltran and Arden looked at them, shocked.

Arden: You dont know Lord Morpheus?!
John: No. Cant say we do
Votor: Wait! Is he the scary-looking guy in black?
Daltran: Yeah.
Votor: Oh Hes dead.
Arden: WHAT?
John: They have him in the lab.
Daltran: Ah, okay. (to Arden) Lets go.

Nar.: Arden and Daltran headed out of the room and went left and won the hall.

Arden: We probably should have asked where the lab is.
Daltran: I think its that room.
Arden: Why?
Daltran: Well my feminine intuition, my wizards vision, and the sign on the door all tell me that the Kyrandia wheels are behind that door!
Arden: Feminine intuition? Kyrandia wheels? And what sign on the door?
Daltran: Uh well Im pretty sure thats the room The doors are reinforced metal to protect the rest of the castle from an explosion.
Arden: I see. Lets go.

Nar.: Daltran and Arden entered the lab to find Crytos and Patrick watching TV and eating popcorn. Morpheuss body lay within a machine collecting data about him, and Calia was motionless on another table.

Arden: Lord Morpheus! (to Crytos and Patrick) Why arent you doing anything to help him?
Patrick: Hi Arden, Daltran. Why dont you look at this?

Nar.: Arden and Daltran walked over and stood behind Patrick and Crytos.

Arden: Whats that?

Patrick: Its whats going on in Morpheuss head right now.
Arden: Whos that?
Daltran: Can I have some popcorn? Im starving.
Crytos: Sure.
Patrick: Supposedly its Sott.
Arden: Sott?
Crytos: Want anymore?
Daltran: Sure.
Crytos: Here, take this. Ill get more.
Patrick: The god of Trilanna.
Arden: He looks old.
Voice: Well, I suppose age is nothing to you, young people.

Nar.: Mattimeo walked out of the shadows by the doorway.

Arden: Mattimeo! How dare you show your face around here!
Mattimeo: What are you talking about? YOU are the traitor.
Arden: I dont think so. (draws sword)
Mattimeo: So You want a fight? So be it.

Nar.: Mattimeo gestured at Arden and a bolt of lightning struck his sword, which acted as a lightning rod. Arden screamed as the electricity coursed through his body. After a minute, his body fell to the ground, twitching and smoking. Ardens blue eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.

Mattimeo: Such is what happens to traitors.

Nar.: Mattimeo left the room without a seconds glance at its occupants. They all stared at Ardens lifeless body in disbelief.

Patrick: What a pity. He was a nice guy.
Daltran: Arden no
Crytos: Want more popcorn?
Daltran: Sure.
Patrick: Ill call someone to clean up this mess. Hes starting to smell funny.

Gabriella: Well done Mattimeo Another little trifle out of the way.
Mattimeo: Thank you mistress.
Gabriella: See TuQual? I doesnt take much to please me. Now go and eliminate the enemy.
TuQual: (to himself) I cant believe I have to do this. How degrading. Doing a womans dirty work

Nar.: TuQual got into the transporter with a sour look on his face. After he was gone, Gabriella looked at Mattimeo.

Gabriella: I want you to follow him. Keep him out of trouble. And remember, keep the boy, ShDoth, alive for now

Nar.: Gabriella laughed as Mattimeo stepped into the transporter, a smirk on his face.

Nar.: Calia opened her eyes and looked around her. She didnt known what had happened or how she had gotten to the lab. She sat up, and saw Patrick, Crytos, and Daltran sitting in front of a TV screen. They were all asleep and there was popcorn everywhere. She got up and looked at the TV screen. Calia gasped. The TV screen was filled with an intense white light. Calia looked at Morpheuss body. It lay lifeless on the table. Tears filled Calias eyes as she stumbled across the room. She leaned her head on the cold laboratory wall. She punched the wall, breaking the bones in her hand. She do. She got up and walked over to an incinerator. She turned it on and took one last look around the room. Then, she climbed in.
