LANGUAGE SKILL RATING SCALE
BASIC
(Level 0+) Recognition:
Able to recognise and articulate most letters and predictable string
of characters. Reading Comprehension limited to rehearsed structures. Able to give, obtain and understand personal
information using rehearsed formulaic language only.
(Level 1) Survival: Able to recognise and articulate letters high frequency forms, and comprehend
short,simple sentences. Able to write short, simple sentences, to satisty basic needs.Able to understand and maintain
predictable face-to-face conversations about basic needs with native speakers with frequent repetitions.
INTERMEDIATE
(Level 1+) Functional Social:
Able to translate, interpret, write and to read and understand in
the standard variety of simple discourse and to initiate and maintain simple face-to-face conversations on routine
social and business matters with most educated people.
(Level 2) Limited Working:
Able to converse with most native speakers and understand (gist) social and business conversations, general radio
news broadcasts plus a range of specialist / topical conversations.
(Level 2+)Working: Able to converse with native speakers to satisfy most social and business-related
needs and complete some specialised social and business conversation tasks.Able to write, read and understand authentic
texts of a social and factual nature to satisfy a limited range of social and business requirements.
ADVANCED
(Level 3) Proficient Working:
Able translate or to interpret with reasonable accuracy the sense
of what is conveyed in Indonesian language into English and vice versa. Able to write in better forms and speak
effectively on a range of social, business, professional and specialist topics with diction and structural
accuracy.
(Level 3+) Higher Proficient:
Capable of reading and understanding a wider range of texts addresses
to the general reader, and able to gist such material.
Able to translate general texts both ways using a reasonably idiomatic
style and with accurate expression. These two skill features also exist in writing. Able to speak with idiomatic
accuracy and cultural awareness in both formal and informal situations, without unduly disturbing native speakers.
(Level 4) Advanced Proficient:
Able to understand with great accuracy most conversations in the
standard-variety, as well as a range of colloquial expressions. Able to speak fluently in the standard variety
using common colloquial and idiomatic forms, but with few lapses in appropriateness.
(Level 5)Functional Native:
Can understand fully all varieties and registers of speech likely
to be encountered in professional / business and social circumstances. Can speak and write with complete fluency,
accuracy, cultural awareness and appropriateness in the range equivalent to that of a well educated, articulate
native speaker.

Starting from Pure beginners: BASIC: 15, 30, 60, 120, INTERMEDIATE
240, 480, ADVANCED: 600 + experience, 720 + experience, 1000 + experience.
