Some Reading Festival Traditions

Im not trying to say that im an expert or anything, but here are some things that I have come to expect from the Reading Festival...

"BOLLOCKS!" - if your sat at your tent quietly drinking your beer and some walks past you and screams at the top their voice "Bollocks!", dont be alarmed. Just take a deep breathe and shout it back just as loud. This will then carry on around the campsite with some rather cool effect. However, people are usually bored of this by the Friday night and alternatives are invented. Not may take off as everyone wants to create one, but do support them and shout it back.
Last year 'Timmy' done well and apparently 'Im Tiger Woods' followed by 'No im Tiger Woods' followed by 'No im tiger Woods' had done well in the past as well.

Toilet Fires - the plastic porta-loo toilets are usually attempted to be set on fire on the last night. Everyone gets back from the last band on the Sunday and everyone is in a really destructive mood. I refuse to enter the toilets on Sunday night as many are knocked over and set on fire. Other things to be done are to rip all the lights down and burn whatever you can get your hands on.
The Toilet Fire of 2000 was very impressive and could be seen from many of the fields. The arrogant Scottish security have now cracked down on this and will "arrest you" (take you to a kinda police tent) for near enough anything on the last day. My mate Phiney got took away for letting of a Fire Extinguisher. Bless his little face as he pranced along singing and dancing not realizing that there was two Scots security running up behind him. Comedy at its best.

Bottle Fights - if your stood in the mosh pitt waiting for the band to come on and you get hit with a plastic bottle, dont panic to much. Once one bottle is thrown in the air everyone else seems to join in and soon the entire sky is full of plastic bottles. Yeah they can hurt, but dont cry about it, pick it back up and throw it back in the air.

The Bottle Ring - is when you take every empty bottle or can of beer you drink and make a circle around the fire. By the end of the weekend you will have a very impressive looking mountain of beer cans and bottles. I have never managed it because the first year the bottle blow up and went everywhere due to them being to close to the fire and last year we had a kinda bottle fight with the neighbours.

Over Crowded Tents - do expect to get in a tent to watch a fairly smaller band and find that you are fighting for you life to stay alive in the heat and exhaustion of trying not to get crushed or fall over in the mosh pitt. It kinda ruins it for many people.

Over Crowded mosh pitts - where no one is listening to the band but trying to stay alive. Foo Fighters and Stereophonics in 2000 both had to calm the set down and tell the crowd to stop as people were getting hurt in the mosh pits. Crowdsurf your way out if you are wanting to escape. DONT try and muscle your way to the back, cause you got no chance!!

Nice Weather - touch wood. It's usually nice and sunny for a couple of days so s hat and suncream and water is very handy.

If I can think of any more then I will let you know. Go and enjoy!
