Reading 2002 Rumours News and Info
With Reading 2002 just around the corner the rumours of who will play started flying around a couple of months ago. The line up is due to be released within the next week (week beginning Mon 8th Apr). This are the latest rumours that I have found.
(Oh and I put the A rumour after meeting Giles Perry and himself telling us that they were negotiating terms with Mean Fiddler. Woo Hoo.)
A
- More than likely, out of their own mouths
Alien Ant Farm - they sold well
and are still touring now. A good possibility.
Alkaline Trio - very strongly
rumoured to be confirmed already.
Andrew WK - he confirmed it on his
website
Blur - or Gorillaz. One of
Damon Albarns crew are expected to do a festival this year.
Deftones - are working on a new
album ready for the summer.
Embrace - are wanting to play says
the rumours
Face to Face - strong
rumour.
Foo Fighters - unlikely due
to them playing T in the Park, but then they love Reading!
Garbage - rumours say they
are more than certain to play a festie this year.
Hell is for Heroes - have
said that they want to. We can hope and pray.
Hot Rod Circuit - strong
rumour.
Incubus - good sales and are a very
strong rumour
Jimmy Eat World - same as Incubus
really, very possible.
JJ72 - where did they go?
Gotta come back soon havnt they? Strongly rumoured.
Linkin Park - will headline
according to Kerrang!
Less than Jake - Strongly rumoured
for a while now.
Lostprophets - unlikely as
they have said on the Radio they will play Ozzfest and Glasto. Doh!
Muse - Have been strongly
rumoured for many a month now.
Mudvayne - Strongly rumoured.
New Order - maybe I suppose.
Prodigy - will headline according
to Kerrang!
Queens of the Stone Age - played
the last 2 years which may rule them out, but hey who knows?!
Red Hot Chili Peppers - will play
a festival this summer says Kerrang!
Reel Big Fish - strongly
tipped to repeat the success of last year.
Saves the Day - very strong rumour.
Sex Pistols - were strongly rumoured
to make the comeback. I doubt it though.
Sum 41 - have hit the big
time this year, they may top it off with a festival. More than likely.
Slipknot - why not? New album
out. Who cares?
Silverchair - word says they
are gonna play the comeback.
The Get Up Kids - strong
rumour.
The Streets - strong rumour.
The Hives - are expected
to play Reading or Glasto.
The Offspring - will headline
according to Kerrang!
The Cooper Temple Clause - strong
rumours
The Electric Soft Parade - more
strong rumours
Vex Red - have a new album
out and need to plug it. Perfect place to do it. Strong rumour.
Weezer - are rumoured to
want to play after pulling out last year
As you all know, half of these rumours are not true and will not happen, but take comfort out the fact that some of them will happen. Its all part of the fun getting the rumours of the net, and within 2 weeks you will know the line up and the tickets will be on sale.
Information
Dates: The festival takes place over the bank holiday Monday so the dates will be Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August 2002.
Venue: Richfield Avenue, Reading
Opening time: Approx 11am Thursday 22nd August. (If you are wanting to find a decent camping place then I suggest arriving about then)
Finishing time: Approx 11am Monday 26th August.
Ticket Price: Approx £85 inc booking fee.
Tickets on Sale: Approx 3rd week of April, as soon as they release the headliners and the other bands playing.
Getting there: The train station is located about a 30 minute walk form the venue and seems to be the popular way of arriving. However there are car parking spaces on site if you want to drive down. The ticket will cost more for doing these maybe. For the last two years I have got a lift down in a mini bus and then got picked up in it (very nice for the last day when everyone else is having to get trains we pile in a van and sleep all the way home and then get home and sleep for a few days).
