President's Message
by Pres. Dante Verano
Our club renewed its sisterhood agreement with RC Angeles for another two years. Both clubs were enthusiastic to maintain a warm relationship thru a strong fellowship and a joint community project. I acknowledge the efforts of PP Jun Farcon and Interclub Chairman Flor for their efforts in making this event possible. Likewise my appreciation goes to PT Rolly for bringing several bottles of brandy perk up the spirit of the gathering and Rtn. Jun Jun for the special bakery products from Julie's Bakeshop. Your generosity has contributed a lot to the success of our fellowship with our visitor and fellow Rotarians.
Last Saturday our Dart players' best effort were not enough to qualify our club to advance in the next round. However, I would like to express my gratitude to Chairman Jun Jun, PP Roland, VP Kiko and Rtn. Eduard keep it up, we are just beginning, they have not seen yet the finest of us. Nothing is loss but we gain a lot, friends and fellowship with others.
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is again lurking around the corner due to recurrent monsoon rains. In this regard, our Club had a fumigation activity in identified areas of Barangay Parang this afternoon. This Dengue Prevention project can prevent epidemic of Dengue to happen again in our community. This was made possible thru the fumigation chemicals and equipments from RC Ortigas Center. Dir. Val coordinated with the City Health Dengue Prevention Committee, the City Health Sanitary Inspector, and the Office of the Parang Barangay Chairman. Thanks to all Rotarians who participated in this activity.
The District TenPin Bowling tournament will commence again this Sunday at SM Megamall Bowling Center. Chairman PP Boy assembled two teams for our club. They have practice a great deal every Tuesday nights at Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall Bowling Center in preparation for this District meet. Our club is optimistic that we can make a difference in this tournament like we used to be in the past. Good luck and let us support our teams to victory.

"RENEWAL OF SISTERHOOD AGREEMENT / LADIES NIGHT"
The Rotary Club of Angeles led by Pres. Jojo Flores attended our weekly meeting last September 26, 2002. This is in accordance with our renewal of sisterhood agreement with the Rotary Club of Angeles. Our club gave them a taste of the Marikina Hospitality. Earlier in the day, they have golf tournament in which they take pleasure in winning over our seasoned golfers. We treated them with a sumptuous dinner complete with lechon, different pastries and flowing drinks. Our spouses never to be outdone gave them a festive rendition of Filipino song medley for the entertainment. It was a night of fellowship and camaraderie with the spirit of Rotary in the air.

"VOCATIONAL SERVICE"
The changes occurring in today's workplace - continuing expansion of new technologies, the shifting role of women in the work force, the effects of economic slowdowns - are all combining to revolutionize business. As business leaders, Rotary members share their skills and expertise through Vocational Service.
According to Rotary's classification principle, members join Rotary as the representative of their particular business or profession. This gives Rotarians the dual responsibility of representing their vocation within the club and of exemplifying the ideals of Rotary within the workplace. The essence of Vocational Service is the importance of high ethical standards in all professions, the importance of all vocations, and the opportunity to contribute one's vocational talents to address the problems and needs of society.
Early Rotarians were often instrumental in setting up local organizations that functioned as, or became, better business bureaus. Other clubs established boards of mediators to promote industrial peace between employers and their workers and among businesses. Today the focus of Vocational Service has expanded from individual vocational excellence to providing service within the workplace and to the community.
