President's Message
by Pres. Dante Verano
This years Christmas Fellowship was something that will remain stamped in our memories. It was graced by some important Past District Governors, District Officers and my fellow Loving President including my loving parents. Congratulation to master showman, Chairman Don Manolo. He has brought out the best of talents of RC Marikina Rotarians and come up with a very fabulous presentation. My warmest affection to all the participants in this special presentation. You have impressed our guest with your sincere contribution to make this occasion a resounding success. I would also like to express my profound gratitude to PP Ver and PP Jun for their generosity in sharing the service of the professional sound systems. The same gratitude to DG Efren & DGL Pam, PP Larry for the fruits we have partaken; for PP Roland, VP Kiko, Dir. Jessie, Dir. Del, PP Joe Lee who were all generous in keeping the drinks & wine flowing and to all of you who in one way or another led to the success of this occasion. Maraming Salamat po. It was really a night to remember.
The generosity of our members was not only measured in what they can share in fellowship but also in their bigheartedness in our Community Project. It was dubbed: Pamaskong Handog kay Totoy at Neneng a brainchild of Chairman Rey Montoya who was very enthusiastic from the very start he received this responsibility. He has a talent to extract donation from everybody just to share in the success of this activity. He was even dressed up in a Santa Claus outfit to show how sincere he is in the performance of his role. This activity was lovingly supported by the Inner Wheel Club of Marikina. Their loving presence made a difference in this project. It was a really a success despite timidity of the schedule in a Sunday afternoon but many showed up to share fun with the children, popcorns, appetizing hot goto and tokwat baboy. It was also an opportunity to chat about the last Christmas presentation, a very special part of any Rotary activity. Some one hundred seventy souls learned and experienced in a small way what is Christmas is all about. As our Rotary Year theme suggest Sow the Seeds of Love, may this activity have expressed our genuine love and concern thru the small tidings we have shared these children.
Again, I would like to express my greetings to all of you and your family the Love of God thru our Celebration of a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to all. I will always love you

"CHRISTMAS PARTY"
It was December 12, 2002 at Riverbend Convention Hall, Riverbank Center when once again Christmas Party Chairman Don Manolo did it again. That was a night to remember. This special Christmas presentation RC Marikina was produced and directed by Don Manolo who did his homework so many months right after the induction of our President. It was his labor of love and dedication to the Club. It was graced by the presence of Past District Governors: PDGs Pepe & Thesy Peralta, Edison & Malen Ang, Ting & Alice Tanco, Paul Honorio, Sps. Marsh Chua and District Officers: DS Fabie Enriquez, DDS Joven Padilla, AG Jaime Dee & Elena, AG Jun Angeles, AG Boy Marigza as well as some zone Presidents Jess Domingo, Esmer Tepace, Charter President Patrick Tangco. Mr. & Mrs. Jaime & Natividad Verano, the parents of our President Dante Verano were also present to see this special presentation.
After dinner, the brief formal meeting emceed by PP Jun Farcon was followed by the much awaited Special Christmas Presentation. PP Eric Richard Goma Ignacio and PN 1st VP Zeny Shawee Farcon as Master of Ceremonies were really fabulous in their opening dancing spiel. They did a wonderful job of hosting that keep everyone glued through out the entire presentation.
If in the last time the talents of RC Marikina lip sync their songs with the minus one, this time it was all live performance at their best. DG Efren and District First Lady PDC Pam dressed as Joseph and Mary with a baby Jesus stage walk at the start of the presentation. It was followed by a Tom Jones & Elvis Presleys hit songs rendered with gusto, gyrating hips and shades by VP Kiko and George Ty. The Ballads of VP Kiko, Dir. Val, PS XC, and Rtn Doy brought back loving memories of yesteryears. Everyone was then surprised to watch a Santacruzan or Sagala in December with Reyna Mariiiiiiviccc and konsorte PE Dindo complete with luces illumination by excited PP Jimmy, Rtn. Nestor, PP Larry, Rtn. Claro, PT Edwin, Rtn. Danny all in their crisp barong. It was also the first time everyone witnessed a Balagtasan in whom Reyna Mariiiiiviccc was praised to high heavens by the guest Makata from RC Valenzuela, Rtn Pablo Libiran. If everyone can just see how PP Roland fret while watching the love of his life with an eagles eye that portion, anyone can realize how much Marivic means to him. And who can forget the reenactment of the Holy Weeks Betrayal of Judas by Dir. Celso Cruz. It made everyone think hard if this presentation was for a Christmas or a Holy Week presentation complete with Balagtasan. The Hawaiian number of the spouses Noemi, Vicky, Julie, Isay, Elai, Fely, Vising, Leonor, Linda and Meldy set the stage for the Rotarians Tony, Floren, Boy, Joe Lee, Ronie, Pidyong, Edward, Jun Jun, Benjie and Enciong, all dressed only in grass skirt that brought the house down in their hilarious, belly aching Hula-hula gyration. The audience went wild into rupture of laughter at the same time admiring them just the same. These Rotarians deserve a full amount of recognition for their audacity in dressing in grass skirts complete with brasserie and make up, some even sporting oxo and sputnik tattoos on their bodies.
The penultimate part was a short reenactment of a portion of Sound of Music of husband-wife team PP Roland and Marivic who were proper in their role together with Mother Superior spouse Meldy. The Classic Hits by PP Flor, PP Rudy, Dir Jessie and Sps. Monette was really a masterpiece presentation. In the Grand Finale, Spouse Noemi was dressed in Bridal gown together with our President Dante who looks more handsome in his tuxedo. They did a wedding reenactment officiated by Bishop PP Ver with his Altar boys PP Jimmy T., PP Romy, PD Vic complete with bells and incenses. While the wedding ceremony was happening, there were singing angels: Sps. Marisa, Vising, Marivic, Lydia, Linda, Leonor, Fely, Isay, Meldy, Elai, Julie which was a touching, beautiful picturesque scene to remember. It was all a well planned, well directed and elaborately prepared special presentation to everyones entertainment that showcased the RC Marikina talents. Hooray to Don Manolo Favis for a job well done.
"CHRISTMAS GIFT GIVING"
The Rotary Club of Marikina is not only first-rate in their Talent Presentation but they are at their best when it comes to Community Service. Three days after their gala presentation at Riverbend Convention Hall, one would think they deserve to have a good rest after their hectic preparation from that event. But nothing can stop them when it comes to doing their duty in Community Service. Our Club Christmas Gift Giving was dubbed as Pamaskong Handog kay Totoy at Neneng. This highlights our clubs loving concern for the least fortunate Children of our City. The giving of gifts we express our love to these less fortunate children. Pamaskong Handog kay Totoy at Neneng was chaired by Rtn. Rey Montoya who was very thorough in his preparation for this occasion. The scheduled was a lazy Sunday afternoon but Rtn. Rey decorated the MRYC the 1st floor area and the parking with buntings which create a festive atmosphere. Chairman Rey was in complete Santa Claus outfit. The spouses were in their Santa Claus headpiece listing every child included in the party were some one hundred seventy plus beneficiary children. There was even a popcorn kiosk of paperoo thru the kindness of Sps. Marissa Atanacio. The Children took pleasure in the popcorn including the young once Rotarians.
Almost everyone was there: DG Efren and DG First Lady Pam, Pres. Dante and Sps. Noemi. VP Kiko, Chairman Rey and Sps. Lyn, PP Roland and sps. Marivic, PP Boy, PP Mario, PP Manny, PP Ver, PP Jimmy T., PP Flor and Sps. Vising, PP Jun and sps. Zeny, PP Eric and sps. Lydia, IPP Tony and sps. Elai, PE Dindo, IS Val, Dir.Celso, Dir. Jessie and Sps. Isay, PD Pidyong and Sps. Meldy, PRO Manolo, PS Florens and Sps. Marissa, Rtn. Ronie, Rtn. Eduard, Rtn. Noel, Rtn. Benjie and Sps. Julie, Fely, Linda, Vicky. A group of guest from the Maranatha International Baptist Church were also present to lend a hand in this occasion headed by Pastor Manuel Orara.
After a short opening prayer by Rtn. Ronie, Pastor Manny Orara explained to the children the real meaning and importance of Christmas emphasing the importance of the spiritual value over materialistic attitude toward Christmas. The children were all attentive to pastor Manny. A simple meal of spaghetti, hotdogs, donut, ice cream bar and tetra pack juice were served that made the children take pleasure in party. Everything were prepared and distributed by the loving spouses. There were also the parlor games, pabitin, and palayok game that made the party more fun and exciting. PP Jun was not only excellent master of ceremonies for Important District Affairs but also has flair in hosting childrens party. Everyone went home with a smile on their face after they all received a simple gift, a gift of love from the Rotary Club of Marikina.
