What to Bring (and often forgotten)

  • Your payment for the retreat, payable to Michael Poon
  • A water bottle for hiking
  • Layered clothing for hiking.  Temperatures in the mountains change suddenly, so it is best to wear layers of clothing you can remove or put on throughout the day
  • A rain poncho in case we're caught in a shower while on the mountain
  • A backpack or pouch you can put your water, food, and extra clothing in for the hike
  • Sturdy shoes or boots for hiking.  Sneakers are OK, but make sure they have good traction!
  • Linens or a sleeping bag.  Linens are NOT provided.  Blanket is provided only if you have a bed (and even then, you may want to bring your own)
  • A pillow if you're sleeping on the floor, or if you just want to use your own
  • Extra spending money ($12 for Grandfather Mountain, ~$12+ for Woodlands, gas money, etc.)
  • Bath towel
  • Toiletries
  • Bible
