Frequently Asked Questions (or just really good ones)

  1. How do I find out when others are carpooling so that a group of us can go together?

Check out the guestbook I set up on this site.  Pretend that it's a discussion board, and you can work out departure times with others.

  2. When, whom, and how much should I pay?

You should make payments to Michael Poon.  The cost is $60 per person.  You can pay Michael at any time up to your arrival at the retreat.

  3. I'm confused about the bedding arrangements.

Please see the bed assignments if you haven't yet.  If you're assigned to the floor, bring a pillow, sleeping bag, and blanket if you need it.  If you have a single (twin) bed, bring a sleeping bad or linens for the bed.  Blanket and pillow are provided.  If you are sharing a bed, contact the person you're sharing the bed with and work out who will bring the bed linen.  You may want to bring an extra blanket.  Or both of you can bring sleeping bags and put them on the bed.  Pillows and a blanket are provided.

  4. Are we having a message or service on Sunday?

At the moment, no.  I have absolutely no time to prepare a message.  However, if someone is interested in looking into this and volunteering to either give a message or lead a time of devotion, I'm all for it.  Let me know.

  5. Do I have to go hiking?

No.  Although I'm sure most people will want to go because of the beautiful autumn colors, you do not have to go hiking.  You're free to visit other attractions, stay at the cabin, or do whatever you wish.  Please just let someone else (who's not going with you) know.

  6. Where are we hiking?

Most likely on a Blowing Rock trail, though that has not been decided yet.

  7. Do I have to eat at Woodlands Barbecue?

No, but if you don't, you're on your own.  I have no idea what other restaurants are in the area, and we're not stocking any dinner-type food at the cabin.

  8. Will there be coffee?

If you drink coffee, bring your own.  I'm not sure if there's a coffee maker right now.  If I don't manage to find out, you'll need to bring that, too.

  9. Will there be snacks?

Yes, there should be plenty of food outside of meals, if you get hungry.

  10. Can I suggest a certain type of food for snacks?

We're open to suggestions, but due to timing, car space, and costs, we may or may not be able to oblige you.  However, email me, and we'll see.
