All but the main streets are narrrow little avenues. Many are designated one way, but if not ,traffic is very tight in passing. Most corners have large mirrors so that on coming traffic and pedistrians can see better. The white line marks the walk and bike lane. |

This street vender was out at 7 am selling her veggies from the cart. She is dressed in very traditional dress. Many women workers and shoppers wear aprons to protect their clothes form being soiled. Her hat is for sun protection. |

At a park close to our apartment a family celebrates all day. They hung lights, set a stage and small booths for food. They smell of outdoor cooking and the music brought me to them. |

At right and below are very typical Japanese shops. The market has fruits and vegatables. It is larger than many such places. The resturant is one of may hundreds found all around town. The lanterns and menus tell all. In the windows are displays of all the food offered there. It makes choosing a meal very simple, just ask for the number by the display. |

Pachinko parlors are very popular. It is like playing pin ball only upright.. Adults play many hours to win steel balls that can be traded in for small carnival type prizes. |
