Kadoike Junior High (pronounced- Cod-O-E-Kay) is the second school I am assigned to. It has the same three levels of junior high classes, 1,2,3 being 7th, 8th and 9th grades. There are four classes (A, B, C, D) in each level. I will help the three English teachers in each class. Kadoike is the longest distance I have to bike, about four miles one way. It takes me 40 minutes to ride to school. The teacher's entrance is up a steep grade to the covered parkng area for their cars. The school is very old but well maintained. It has three sections with a courtyard between each two sections. The one courtyard is the volleyball area. The other courtyard serves as the student entrance. Every Friday mornng the teachers walk to the front hill to greet "Ohayo gozaimasu," "good morning" to the students as they arrive. |

Three Pictures Below: Typical in the Japanese school, we have a teachers' room as our offices. The center lady on the left is one of my English teachers, Ms. Kato. I also teach with Mr. Ito, who has spent time at WMU in Kalamazoo and Mr. Nozaki. Below Centert: Our principal, Mr Hayashi, has a morning chat with the assistant princpal, Mr. Oshima, while they wait to do the morning staff announcements. Both men are very friendly and helpful to me. Below Left: At 7 am,I am ready to ride to school with my rain suit on during typhoon #23. |

Kendo is an ancient fighting style. It is very regulated and there is an offical attire one wears to practice and for matches. This is Noda in his practice garb. |
