The LT-2000 has an openness and clarity that must be heard. This speaker is ideal for solo voice and small group jazz, although I specifically designed it for 17th-18th century classical. The LT-2000 works well with classic rock, but if you into heavier rock or romantic classical at concert levels, you should look elsewhere. The LT-2000 explodes all of the myths that Lowther drivers are shouty with no bass. On the contrary, the LT-2000 provides all of the fine detail you would expect from a Lowther and at the same time, the LT-2000 is smooth and easy to listen to, with bass solidly down to 30Hz.
The MkII version is a continuation of a series of refinements. The cabinet is now slightly smaller to improve the upper bass/low treble. Minor damping and filter changes have improved the overall balance.
A number of other drivers can be made to work in the basic LT-2000 cabinet. However, the cabinet is designed specifically for the Lowther DX3 and in my opinion is the best driver in the price range. I will continue to develop the cabinet for this driver. Before you purchase the LT-2000, you should contact me for a discussion of options and suitability to your needs.
