DAY 6 * TUESDAY, JULY 18 � STOCKHOLM / CRUISE SHIP

Your ship docks at the Stockholm Port this morning.  Situated on 14 islands between Lake M�lar and the Baltic Sea, Sweden's capital city is unique, beautiful, and well-preserved as a result of strict control over urban development and painstaking preservation of its historical landmarks and treasures.
See the Royal Palace, the Riddarholm Church and the Town Hall, known for its festive decor.  Nobel prizes are also bestowed in this city hall. Also, you may want to explore or shop at Kungsgatan Street's smart shops.

DAY 7 * WEDNESDAY, JULY 19 � TALLINN / CRUISE SHIP
Today's destination is Estonia's capital city, Tallinn, which was described in the 12th century as "a small town resembling a great fortress."
Landmarks include the Convent of St. Birgitta, which was built in 1407 and ruined in a 1577 war; St. Mary's Cathedral and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, built according to legend over the grave of an ancient Estonian hero.  Estonia was formerly one of the 15 Republics that made up the USSR (Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics).  You may still see some vestiges of Soviet influence resulting from the 43 years the Estonians lived under the Soviet Hammer and Sickle.

DAY 8 * THURSDAY, JULY 20 � ST. PETERSBURG - CRUISE SHIP
This morning, discover the city that was first called St. Petersburg, later named Leningrad, and now St. Petersburg once again.  The city of the Czars, it was founded by Peter the Great.  Construction began on the city in 1703 and the city eventually spread over 100 islands linked by 700 bridges.  The city is sometimes called the "Venice" of the north.  You will also see the gigantic Peter and Paul Fortress, designed to protect a valuable marine harbor during those months of the year it is not choked with ice.  See the gilded dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the heavy cruiser Aurora, whose guns rang out loudest during the "first" Russian Revolution of 1917.  All visitors to this city want to visit the Winter Palace Complex.  Formerly the residence of the Czars, it is now the home of the world famous Hermitage Museum.  Among the exhibits here are celebrated works by Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, and the major french expressionists.

DAY 9 * FRIDAY, JULY 21 � AT SEA / CRUISE SHIP
Your cruise ship is at sea today.  Spend time relaxing or enjoying the varied activities offered while on board. as you sail back to Copenhagen.

DAY 10 * SATURDAY, JULY 22 - COPENHAGEN
Your cruise ship arrives back in Copenhagen this morning where your day is free to spend as you wish.  Activities might include: Tour of the Tuborg Brewery, visiting the Tivoli Gardens where one finds a combination of flower gardens, restaurants, rides, carnival games, varied mime shows, theater performances, and concerts.  If you visit at night, the park atmosphere and illuminations create an unforgettable effect which brings to mind the magical and fairytale world of Hans Christian Andersen, who, at various times, lived in this area.
(Dinner and overnight in Copenhagen)

DAY 11 * SUNDAY, JULY 23 - RETURN FLIGHT TO JFK OR FLIGHT TO TORSHAVN
Most good things must come to an end.  If you're returning to JFK today, Picturesque Denmark disappears behind you as you head westward, gaining nearly an hour in clock time for every hour you spend in the air.  If you're lucky, you'll see Greenland from 35,000 feet in the air as you fly the great circle route back to the USA and JFK Airport.. 
If you're going to the ISBE Conference, you will be transported from the boat dock to the Copenhagen airport for your flight to Torshavn, Faeroe Islands, site of the 2006 Conference.  On arrival there, you will be transported to your conference hotel.  There will be a reception Sunday evening where you will be able to meet other ISBE members and enjoy food, drink, and perhaps, dancing.
