Introduction

Orphan in Malay is 'anak yatim'. The origin of 'yatim' word was from Arabic word which is means sad or alone.

The term according to Islamic law is an orphan is a child who his father was dead before he reached puberty. Limit or period to a child to be called orphan is until the child has reached puberty and adulthood. For people who have children and then losing a parent is not held as an orphan anymore because they are already able to support and take care of yourself. It is only suitable for children only because they can not afford care and support yourself and still need help and assistance from others.


Social Obligations

Cherish and maintain social orphans is an obligation every Muslim. And he is one of the efforts of Islamic struggle that is rarely done. Indeed, social problems arise because of four reasons, that is not glorify orphan, do not feed the poor, take some legacy (wealth) to the greedy nature, and loves to excess property (see Surah al-Fajr, verses 15-20).
