Price of Progress 11:30 am Four reviews are up, including a new anime review of Kite. You can expect similar anime reviews as time goes on, even though I'm having a very hard time reviewing them. I suppose games lend themselves more to reviews than anime shows and movies. In any event, expect reviews for Berserk, Lain, Evangelion (and movie), FLCL, and more in the following updates. Random fact: anime is now officially a real word. I'm about six hours into Xenosaga now, but its hard to find enough free time to play the game with people constantly coming in and out of the room. My suspension of disbelief relies on my being alone in the room while playing, which I haven't had many oppertunities to enjoy here lately. Spring Break, which starts tomorrow for me, with fix that. Hopefully I'll make a huge push to finish Xenosaga during it, but time will tell as I'm getting together with friends quite a few days next week. I'll let you know how it turns out. Spring Break obviously means no updates at all next week. See you on the flip side. |

Like A Stone 12:14 pm If you haven't already, be sure and listen to Audio Slave's new song, Like A Stone. It is Razor Witt's new theme song. It is amazing how productive you can be despite not having your computer for the majority of Spring Break. I'll spare you the grizzly details, but let it be known that I didn't have a working computer until Thursday afternoon. The upshot of the computer fiasco was that I logged an impressive 40 hours onto Xenogears in a scant three days. That momentum is officially gone, but at least I made it to the 46 hour mark in the game. I've mentioned that I won't be able to play it that much since I'm now back at college (due to distractions and such), but I might make the extra effort to complete the game in a timely fashion. Until I finish it and write the review, let it be noted that it is likely to become my favorite game of all time. We'll see what happens. In case you're dubious about that "productive" statement I mentioned above, just take a gander at the reviews section: seven all-new anime reviews. Seven! I also managed to draw an image of El Cid, my evil cleric in another D&D campaign I'm involved in. I'll try to have that scanned, colored, and loaded by Thursday if I can. Besides that, I'll probably load up the two new game reviews (Baldur's gate 2 and Deus Ex) I just sent to RPGamer in addition to converting some more of the older reviews per usual. These are interesting times we are living in. |

End of Days 11:50 am Things are shaking up around here. For starters, my current boss is leaving for greener pastures starting this coming Thursday. What this means is that the Gravy Train might be derailed, perhaps for good. I've mentioned it before, but basically my current job merely consists of my surfing the internet and working on this page. This oppertunity was granted solely because I have the best boss in the world: one which rarely if ever gives us something to do. However, starting next week I will be working in a different department altogether, and there is a good chance that they will be giving actual work to their student employees. I'm perhaps lucky that this event is happening so close to the end of the year, but Razor Witt will no longer be updated on such a consistent basis as it once was if this is the case. I'm not going to abandon Razor Witt, but I do have other priorities to keep in mind if my free time at work evaporates. Time will tell, I suppose. Something else of note: I beat Xenosaga on Saturday. Since my embarassing mistake concerning the review written for Chrono Cross, I have a self-imposed grace period before I can start writing a review for a game I have just completed. At this present time though, it is more than likely to be receiving a 9 out of 10 in the RPGamer review. Why not a 10? You'll just have to wait for the review... If you tried to access the page in the last couple of days, you might have noticed that the "splash" page was missing. This was due to an unfortunate error when I tried updating the update bar. Apparently I was over my 5 meg space limit and couldn't save the tiny change I made. When I tried closing wordpad it erased it altogether. In a mild panic, I quickly ran amok through the Razor Witt folder deleting anything that wasn't important so I could reconstruct the splash page. This did not solve the problem at first. After leaving it to sit for a few days, I was able to gain about 12 kilobytes of free space in which to work with. I have since recontructed the splash page (obviously), resized nearly all the pictures, and removed some extraneous material. What kind of material? Well...the Super Smash Brothers guide. The entire thing is gone, perhaps permanetly. Whoops. In any event, I did post my picture of Cid I mentioned last update. You can check him out in the Sketch section. You can also expect me to keep you updated with the whole "changing of jobs and bosses" fiasco when I know for sure how it will play out. |

Malebolge 12:05 pm Five more reviews are up; 14 more to go. I decided to upload the Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger reviews since I mentioned them in the last update. If you read them, note that as I said eariler, I had finished Chrono Cross an hour before I wrote its review. After about three days of reflection, I realized I made a horrible error giving it a 9 out of 10. At best, it would get an 8 but a 7 would be more likely. The original Chrono Trigger deserves the 9. In any event, they're there for your viewing (mis)pleasure. In the future I shall be a little more tactful with the titles of updates that occur while there is a very real war taking place. In retrospect, "End of Days" was a little bit inappropiate given the fact that I merely complained about getting a new boss. Where do I stand on the war issue, especially considering that I'm on a liberal college campus? This sums it up: "The only thing necessary for the triumpth of evil is for good men to do nothing." --Edmund Burke I played my first game of D&D as the Dungeon Master last night. It was fantastic, to say the least. The players explored the city of Malebolge (which the estute will recognize from Dante's Inferno), got into a lot of bar fights, and killed 18 Goblins. It was a pretty good setup game, and allowed me to get a little taste of combat from the DM's chair. Needless to say, they will be fighting monsters that will be far more dangerous in nights to come. ![]()
